Turkey in a Smoker

Incredible! I also brined the turkey before smoking it, and it took about 8 hours for a 14 pound turkey. It was moist and delicious. Everyone raved. Used apple wood. I'll do this again for sure. Even better than deep fried.

Applesauce Salad

This is the jello salad my mother-in-law made for at least 40 years, and that I've been making for my husband every Christmas and Thanksgiving since I inherited his mom's binder of favorite recipes. He loves it (and the memories it brings) and now my grandchildren have fallen in love with it, too. It goes great with turkey!!

Amaretto Cake

This cake disappeared in no time and everyone requested it be made again. I used 1/4 cup amaretto and no almond extract. I also crushed some pecans and put them in the bundt pan before pouring in the batter (I had them left from various Christmas/Thanksgiving recipes) and it really took it up a notch. Fantastic recipe!

Italian Halibut Chowder

Yum. Used tilapia and scaled it back a little for just my husband and me. Didn't have tomato juice, so I used tomato sauce. We both really enjoyed it, and it was very Weight Watchers friendly.

Roasted Garlic Cauliflower

Just made this and snuck a taste as I was dishing it up. OMG!!!!! SO good. Made it exactly as written except a sprinkle of dried parsley instead of fresh. Didn't cover at all, no problem with burning. Wonderful!!!!

Fasoliyyeh Bi Z-Zayt (Syrian Green Beans with Olive Oil)

Wow!!! Just made this for me and my husband. We gobbled down every bit and could have eaten twice as much. I used 2 tbsp olive oil and put the garlic in at the beginning rather than at the end with the cilantro. wonderful!!!!!

Kielbasa with Brussels Sprouts

I also used water instead of oil and turkey kielbasa, but otherwise per recipe. It was wonderful. My husband devoured it, and I even ate about half of the brussel sprouts on my plate. Since I've never eaten more than one bite of one before, this was pretty amazing!

Delicious! Very moist and sweet. I guess some people aren't looking for that particular combination in cornbread, but my husband and I gobbled it up. I used canola oil for the shortening, otherwise exactly as directed.

Indian Tandoori Chicken

Tasted pretty good, but next time I'd definitely skip the food coloring. What a mess! Unless you want to be wiping up playdoh fluorescent pink colored yogurt from everything in your kitchen, leave out the food coloring!! I marinated about 24 hours and grilled on a George Forman. It tasted good and was pretty mild.

Ham Bone Soup

WOW! I made this as written, except doubled (I had a huge, meaty ham bone left over from Christmas) and simmered all day on the stove. I wasn't sure what to expect with the simple ingredients and lack of spices, but it was WONDERFUL! My husband and I had two huge bowls apiece and have decided this will be our traditional New Year's meal from now on. FANTASTIC!! don't change a thing!

Cabbage-Carrot Casserole

I made this recipe with a cut-up turkey kielbasa as a main dish for me and my husband. It was very good, but needed just a little more "zip" as a main dish. Not sure what I'll throw in next time, as there will definitely be a next time!

Key Lime Pie VII

I made this pie for Thanksgiving, and just got back from dinner where it got rave reviews. Just delicious. Very tangy, wonderful texture. Loved it. Used fresh lime juice and made 1 1/2 times the recipe and it fit perfectly into my oversized 9.5 inch pie pan. Highly recommend.

Old-Fashioned Cracker Dressing

I needed to use up some matzoh crackers, and subbed them for the saltines in this recipe. Poured mushroom soup over the top, baked it, and we ate it casserole style. Yum :)
