Marinated Mushrooms II

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2008
these were great! i'm not a fan of mushrooms on their own - i always have to pair them with something. so, i used this recipe to marinate about a pound of white mushrooms, let them rest in fridge for a day, and then cooked them on kabobs with chicken and veggies - it was so good! i will definitely make these again!

Restaurant-Style Buffalo Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2010
We followed this recipe exactly and they are great! For temp consistency, we fried them in our electric wok and they turned out perfectly cooked and golden and crispy. Rather than tossing the wings in the sauce, we left it on the side and dipped the wings in it to match each of our tastes.

Sarah's Rice Pilaf

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2010
This is a great base for developing your own style of rice pilaf. This is good as is, but you can also add whatever else you might want to try. This was quick and easy (and easy to remember). I know I'll use it again. Thanks!

Guacamole

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2010
Wow! Soooooo good. I think I will be making a lot of guacamole from now on! I followed the recipe almost exactly - one of my avocados was bad :( so I only used 2, and my lime was a little hard so I probably only got about half the juice of a regular lime; but I thought it was just about perfect - from now on I will use 3 avocados and the juice of half a lime. Thanks so much!

Marinated Scallops Wrapped in Bacon

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2010
Wonderful! I followed the directions exactly (except I didn't cut the scallops in half and I only made 6 for 2 people) and they were absolutely delicious. This is my 'go to' scallops recipe from now on!

Buckeyes II

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2009
These are soooo good. I make them at holidays and for my brother whenever he comes to visit. They're hard to stay away from!

Buckeye Balls II

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2009
These are awesome! I changed the recipe only slightly - I used a tad less confectioners sugar and added a 1/2 c. of graham cracker crumbs (from the Buckeyes II recipe - another great one). My b.f. and brother love the texture that the graham cracker crumbs add (almost like Reese's). These are delish!!

Southern Style Banana Split Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2009
This is delicious! I've made it twice now (4 pies) and it has disappeared every time. The changes I made were pretty minor: I used 2 store bought graham cracker pie crusts in place of making the crust and pressing it into a 9x13, sprinkled walnuts on top, and then drizzled chocolate (the kind that hardens) over the nuts and cherries. To get the chocolate to set, I just put the pies in the freezer for a few minutes and then transferred them to the fridge. This is a keeper - especially for parties and family gatherings.

Cloverleaf Rolls

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2011
Using my stand mixer made this pretty easy. And they're very tasty - soft on the inside and slightly sweet. A great roll! I actually got about 42 from this recipe.

Vinegar and Egg Crust

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2008
this was my first time making homemade pie crust, so my 5 star rating is based solely on the taste - it was delicious. however, it didn't hold together at all when we sliced the apple pie. it was like having apple crumble! but i'm blaming that on operator error - like i said, this was my first time ever making pie crust so i think i rolled it too thin. it wasn't too sticky and it wasn't overly difficult to work with (and trust me, as a 1st timer, i was nervous!) but, the taste was excellent and i will give this another shot!

Scallops Mascarpone

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2010
This is a great recipe for scallops. I cook the scallops in butter and evoo first to get a nice color on them and then add them in with everything else at the end. In addition to marscarpone, I also add some cream cheese to the sauce for a little extra flavor, and I use fresh broccoli instead of asparagus (just because it's what I've had on hand each time I've made this). I'm a novice with scallops and I'm really glad I found this recipe because now I can make a meal out of them and not just an appetizer! Thanks!

No Bake Peanut Butter Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2008
This turned out really well. I had to halve the recipe since I was making this for just two people. I decided to follow the advice of other reviewers and increased the amount of peanut butter, used a little less cool whip, and used an Oreo crust. I used nearly 1c. of PB in my half-recipe, but i think it actually still could have had more (I think this is due more to personal preference, though). I also crushed some Oreos over the top of the pie before freezing; this was a nice touch, but I think it will taste even better if I stir them into the PB mixture next time. As I come from a household of PB lovers - I will make this again! Thanks!

Apple Crumb Pie

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2008
This pie is wonderful! It was my first ever attempt at baking a homemade apple pie, and my boyfriend & I are very pleased! I did choose to leave out the raisins and nuts, though. I know I'll be making this pie again and again!

Chicken Pot Pie VI

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2008
This was delicious! I substituted cream of broccoli soup for the cream of mushroom and added one can of potatoes (that I diced). I also chopped about a 1/2 c. of celery and boiled it with the chicken and onion. Since I included the potatoes, I decided to add an extra can of cream of broccoli. Mine was slightly on the dry side, but I think thats because of the potatoes, so next time I will add a little milk to the chicken and vegetable mixture. I even made an extra batch (in a 9x13) to bring to work for a pot luck tomorrow!

Too Much Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: May 11, 2011
Mmmmm, so good!! I am a chocolate lover, so of course I loved this cake. I followed the recipe exactly and it was delicious, but it so super chocolatey that a very small piece can satisfy my sweet tooth. I have made it two times: first, the all chocolate way with a chocolate glaze, then again with mint chips and a mint glaze - both ways got rave reviews and requests for more in the future. This is so easy, simple, moist, and yummy. I think this might be the only way I will make cakes from now on!

Spinach Brownies

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2011
This is very good and it's a great way to use up a lot of spinach fast. I cooked the onions in olive oil first, and then added the spinach to the frying pan to wilt it. This is quick and easy and I think I'll use it a lot.

Mom's Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2011
I mixed this exactly as the recipe states and it was delicious! This was my first time making zucchini bread and I'm very happy with the results. I was able to get two 9x5 loaves from this recipe. The first loaf I baked plain - no nuts (at 325 for 50 minutes). With the second loaf, I included chopped walnuts and chocolate chips (baked at 325 for 60 minutes). Both loaves are moist and sweet, with a hint of cinnamon and vanilla flavor. I don't need to look for any other zucchini bread recipes - this one is perfect. Thanks for sharing!

Honey Mustard Dressing II

Made this tonight to go with some fried chicken strips and it is delicious. I followed the recipe exactly as written. It's definitely (homemade) restaurant quality. From now on, I will use this as my standard HM recipe. It's great! Thanks!

Caramel Apple Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2010
This is a great meal - I will use this recipe again and again. I followed other suggestions and baked the pork chops and apples instead of pan frying and they turned out very moist, juicy, and flavorful.

Asparagus Quiche

Reviewed: May 11, 2011
I just made this for dinner tonight and it is really good. I took other reviewers suggestions and cooked some onions and garlic in some of the bacon grease, then cooked the asparagus with them. Rather than using 2 pie plates, I lined an 8x11 pan with two pie crusts and used the same cooking time and temp. that the recipe calls for. It cooked perfectly in 40 minutes and was delicious. This is quick and easy (especially when using store bought crust) and is definitely a keeper! Thanks!
