Marinated Mushrooms II

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2008
these were great! i'm not a fan of mushrooms on their own - i always have to pair them with something. so, i used this recipe to marinate about a pound of white mushrooms, let them rest in fridge for a day, and then cooked them on kabobs with chicken and veggies - it was so good! i will definitely make these again!

Too Much Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: May 11, 2011
Mmmmm, so good!! I am a chocolate lover, so of course I loved this cake. I followed the recipe exactly and it was delicious, but it so super chocolatey that a very small piece can satisfy my sweet tooth. I have made it two times: first, the all chocolate way with a chocolate glaze, then again with mint chips and a mint glaze - both ways got rave reviews and requests for more in the future. This is so easy, simple, moist, and yummy. I think this might be the only way I will make cakes from now on!

Buckeye Balls II

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2009
These are awesome! I changed the recipe only slightly - I used a tad less confectioners sugar and added a 1/2 c. of graham cracker crumbs (from the Buckeyes II recipe - another great one). My b.f. and brother love the texture that the graham cracker crumbs add (almost like Reese's). These are delish!!

Mom's Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2011
I mixed this exactly as the recipe states and it was delicious! This was my first time making zucchini bread and I'm very happy with the results. I was able to get two 9x5 loaves from this recipe. The first loaf I baked plain - no nuts (at 325 for 50 minutes). With the second loaf, I included chopped walnuts and chocolate chips (baked at 325 for 60 minutes). Both loaves are moist and sweet, with a hint of cinnamon and vanilla flavor. I don't need to look for any other zucchini bread recipes - this one is perfect. Thanks for sharing!

Strawberry Spinach Salad I

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2010
Excellent summer salad! The only thing I was missing was the poppy seeds, but it still tasted great. To my family and I, it tasted like there was a little too much olive oil, but that's an easy fix next time I make it. This is now a staple in our salad rotation. Thanks!

Southern Style Banana Split Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2009
This is delicious! I've made it twice now (4 pies) and it has disappeared every time. The changes I made were pretty minor: I used 2 store bought graham cracker pie crusts in place of making the crust and pressing it into a 9x13, sprinkled walnuts on top, and then drizzled chocolate (the kind that hardens) over the nuts and cherries. To get the chocolate to set, I just put the pies in the freezer for a few minutes and then transferred them to the fridge. This is a keeper - especially for parties and family gatherings.

Cloverleaf Rolls

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2011
Using my stand mixer made this pretty easy. And they're very tasty - soft on the inside and slightly sweet. A great roll! I actually got about 42 from this recipe.

Restaurant-Style Buffalo Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2010
We followed this recipe exactly and they are great! For temp consistency, we fried them in our electric wok and they turned out perfectly cooked and golden and crispy. Rather than tossing the wings in the sauce, we left it on the side and dipped the wings in it to match each of our tastes.

Sarah's Rice Pilaf

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2010
This is a great base for developing your own style of rice pilaf. This is good as is, but you can also add whatever else you might want to try. This was quick and easy (and easy to remember). I know I'll use it again. Thanks!

Honey Mustard Dressing II

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2010
Made this tonight to go with some fried chicken strips and it is delicious. I followed the recipe exactly as written. It's definitely (homemade) restaurant quality. From now on, I will use this as my standard HM recipe. It's great! Thanks!

Guacamole

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2010
Wow! Soooooo good. I think I will be making a lot of guacamole from now on! I followed the recipe almost exactly - one of my avocados was bad :( so I only used 2, and my lime was a little hard so I probably only got about half the juice of a regular lime; but I thought it was just about perfect - from now on I will use 3 avocados and the juice of half a lime. Thanks so much!

Marinated Scallops Wrapped in Bacon

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2010
Wonderful! I followed the directions exactly (except I didn't cut the scallops in half and I only made 6 for 2 people) and they were absolutely delicious. This is my 'go to' scallops recipe from now on!

Caramel Apple Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2010
This is a great meal - I will use this recipe again and again. I followed other suggestions and baked the pork chops and apples instead of pan frying and they turned out very moist, juicy, and flavorful.

Simply Marinated Mushrooms

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2009
these were ok. there was too much parsley for my taste - it totally filled the inside of each mushroom where the stems had been removed. i tried one after they had marinated for 24 hrs in the mixture and wasn't really impressed, so the next day i cooked them in a frying pan with some sliced onions and ate them over steak for dinner - they were better this way. the rest of the marinade was awesome as a dipping sauce though. i'll probably try this again with less parsley, but for the time being i'm going to stick to the marinated mushrooms II recipe.

Baked Honey Mustard Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2009
I'd say this recipe is just ok; although my bf really enjoyed it. While I had had enough before finishing the 1st helping, he had 2 helpings. The chicken was very moist and flavorful (it was good, definitely not disgusting), it just wasn't a flavor that I wanted too much of. The only changes that I made were: cutting the paprika in half and using only 1/3c. of Dijon mustard. I agree with other reviewers that the basil and parsley were too much. I may try this one again as a base with some tweaking, but in the meantime, I think I will continue to look for another recipe.

No Bake Peanut Butter Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2008
This turned out really well. I had to halve the recipe since I was making this for just two people. I decided to follow the advice of other reviewers and increased the amount of peanut butter, used a little less cool whip, and used an Oreo crust. I used nearly 1c. of PB in my half-recipe, but i think it actually still could have had more (I think this is due more to personal preference, though). I also crushed some Oreos over the top of the pie before freezing; this was a nice touch, but I think it will taste even better if I stir them into the PB mixture next time. As I come from a household of PB lovers - I will make this again! Thanks!

Gourmet Sweet Potato Classic

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2008
This was wonderful! I used 6 large sweet potatoes and then followed the recipe exactly as stated - oh, but i did add a few large marshmallows in the middle layer which added a little extra sweetness. I didn't find this to be too sweet at all, but maybe that was because of the size of the potatoes I used... Anyway, I made this for Thanksgiving with my family and everyone really loved it. I will definitely make this again - it's delicious!

Apple Crumb Pie

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2008
This pie is wonderful! It was my first ever attempt at baking a homemade apple pie, and my boyfriend & I are very pleased! I did choose to leave out the raisins and nuts, though. I know I'll be making this pie again and again!

Gourmet Mushroom Risotto

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2013
This was great in a pinch. Anything I didn't have on hand, I just substituted with what I did have. I only had half the amount of portabellas and used onions instead of shallots. I also used fontinella cheese instead of parm. It was delicious and I think would be a great base for any other flavors you may want to add in.

Gary's Stuffed Mushrooms

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2011
Pretty easy and very delicious! I used a box of cornbread stuffing mix because I didn't have any chicken mix, and I used one 6oz can of real crab meat. They were so good, they were the first appetizer to disappear at Thanksgiving dinner. But, when I baked them, they didn't seem to be getting brown enough on the top after 10-12 minutes at 350, so I wound up setting the broiler at low heat and just watched them until they were brown enough for us. If you want good stuffed mushrooms fast I definitely recommend this recipe!
