Big Soft Ginger Cookies

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies I

I'm giving these only 3 stars because they are good basic cookies with a few flaws in the recipe. The baking time for most ovens should be much shorter--it took mine only 9 minutes. Also only 1/2 t salt is necessary, and adding 1 t vanilla really helps the flavor. I also experimented with making them healthier, and it worked out very well. I subbed 3/4 c butter and 1/4 c nonfat vanilla yogurt for the shortening, cut the white sugar to 1/2 c, and subbed wheat flour for 1/2 cup of the white. They turned out great!

Wazzu Tailgate Chili

Good recipe in general but....a TABLESPOON of salt? I read this, thought it must be a mistake, so put in a half tablespoon. That was still too much. With all the added salt in the beans and canned tomato products, I think a teaspoon would have been closer to the right amount.

Basil and Pesto Hummus

I made this exactly as written and found it extremely bland. I'm used to more traditional tahini-based hummus with parsley and lemon juice, but had a lot of basil to use up and thought I'd give it a whirl. Ended up adding some tahini, cayenne pepper, lemon juice, and extra basalmic, and the end result was better, but still not my favorite.
