Mr. Goodbar Frosting

Reviewed: May 30, 2001
GREAT recipe! Really tasted like the candybar! Only suggestion is to avoid using it with cupcakes because once the second batch comes out, the frosting has cooled and isn't very spreadable. Thanks for the recipe!

Chocolate Cavity Maker Cake

Reviewed: May 30, 2001
A very dense, rich, full of chocolate flavor cake. (I couldn't really taste the Kahlua in it though.) Everyone loved this cake! Thanks for the recipe!

Ranch Bean Dip

Reviewed: May 31, 2001
This is the most awesome dip I have ever eaten! I must admit that it doesn't look so appetizing, but if you get your guests to try just one bite, they're hooked! Thanks for the recipe!

Layered Shrimp

Reviewed: May 31, 2001
This was a big hit at a party I had! I used pre-packaged frozen, already peeled shrimp with the tails still on, and it took no time at all to put together. IDEAL for someone who doesn't cook, but wants to bring a dish! Thanks for the recipe!

Angel Hair Pasta with Shrimp and Basil

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2001
Very good! I doubled the pasta and garlic (8 oz. pasta is not enough for all the tomatoes called for, and the dish needed more flavor), and found that this dish really needed more shrimp (will use 2 lbs. next time). I didn't add oil to the pasta while boiling (simply not necessary), and I used only 1/8 cup oil in the sauce to cut down on the fat. Using fresh herbs is key! If you add the shrimp in Step 2 as written, they will be extremely overcooked. Add them to the finished sauce that is still simmering (along with 1/2 tsp. salt and 1/8 tsp. pepper), and they will cook in 2-3 minutes. Thanks for the recipe!

Eggnog Quick Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2001
I made several loaves and gave them as Christmas gifts. Big hit and so easy! I used real rum instead of rum extract, increased the nutmeg to 1/2 tsp., and added 1/3 cup vegetable oil (was too dry otherwise). I agree - fresh eggnog is key! I also made this with lowfat eggnog - was SUPER dry, even after adding oil. You must use the real stuff! Thanks for the recipe!

Coconut Muffins

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2001
I was very disappointed in this recipe. They weren't sweet at all, and made 10 VERY small muffins.

Pineapple Puffs

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2001
I really liked these muffins a lot, but I just didn't really taste the pineapple as much as I was hoping. Maybe add some pineapple extract?

Julia's Easy Slow Cooker Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2001
Great and easy recipe! I made the mistake of using pre-seasoned chicken, so it was a bit salty - but that was my fault! Thanks for the recipe!

Slow Cooker Chicken Cacciatore

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2001
Very easy and good recipe to come home to! I used fewer chicken breasts (3) because I needed a smaller dish - turned out fine! I added 1/4 cup red wine that added even more flavor. I wouldn't recommend cooking it over 7 hours though - chicken gets a "pasty" texture somehow. Thanks for the recipe!

Great chowder! I would add another can of corn next time though. Thanks for the recipe!

Slow Cooker Taco Soup

What an awesome, simple recipe!! It can cook well over 8 hours, too. I made mine with ground turkey and the beef was never missed! Thanks for the recipe!

Thirty Minute Meal

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2001
Super, super simple! I used ground turkey instead of beef to make it lowfat, and pre-shredded cabbage to save even more time. Loved it! Thanks for the recipe!

Buttermilk Coconut Bars

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2001
Very good recipe and a great way to get rid of extra buttermilk! I wouldn't call these "coconut bars" though - to me, it was more of a spice cake. Mine baked in 30 minutes (even at 350 with an oven thermometer), so I'd recommend watching the baking time. I omitted the glaze and it was just fine. Thanks for the recipe!

Easier Chicken Marsala

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2001
Wow, what a recipe! I really didn't think it would turn out to be so tender and juicy, but it was. So many chicken recipes turn out dry, but this one was just wonderful. Made my kitchen smell awesome! I made it with rosemary potatoes and fresh green beans. What a meal! Thanks for the recipe!

Chocolate Banana Cake

Sorry - this recipe did not turn out well at all. for me. It was so thick that I could barely get it in the pan. Turned out quite dry. No one would eat it.

Incredibly Delicious Italian Cream Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2001
What a moist, rich, wonderful cake! I made this for a co-worker who was getting married. I don't eat cream cheese so I didn't try it, but everyone just RAVED about this cake. There wasn't a slice left! Thanks for the recipe!

Brownie Caramel Cheesecake

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2001
Big hit with my family! I reserved 2/3 cup of the caramel mixture instead of the 1/3 cup suggested because it would have been too rich - I'd do it again. I couldn't find an 8 oz. pkg brownie mix, so I used "Betty Crocker Smart Size" 10.25 oz, and it was just fine. I don't eat cream cheese so I didn't try this cheesecake, but everyone loved it! Thanks for the recipe!

Absolutely Best Brownies

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2001
Took literally 5 minutes to make! Turned out moist, and not too sweet (so you can eat more of them!). Perfect for drop-in company. Try adding crunched up Heath toffee bars to the bottom before pouring the batter - wow! Thanks for the recipe!
