Quick Yeast Rolls

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2013
This is my first time making rolls from scratch... I followed the recipe exactly, and they turned out wonderful! My fiance and I both tried one as soon as they came out of the oven, and had the rest with dinner... I'm in the process of making another batch now... My fiance asked if I would make more to have with honey tomorrow for breakfast.... I love how simple this recipe is, and how versatile these rolls can be... We plan to try some with italian seasoning and garlic powder sometime as well! Thank you for sharing your family recipe!

Lentil Chili

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2012
wonderful, healthy addition to my recipe rotation. Healthiest comfort food I've ever eaten. I always make the recipe the way it's shown first, and it I have to say this one is just wonderful if you follow the recipe. You could easily modify it to fit your tastes though. I might add a little salt to the pot next time. But that's just as easy to do after you've dished it up too.

Divinity

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2010
Awesome! This was my first time making divinity, and after hearing how finicky the recipe can be I was a bit worried. But it turned out just right! I used the hard ball method to gage the temperature, and I beat the egg whites for about 15 mins.

Big Soft Ginger Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2010
Wonderful cookies! I've already made one normal batch, and it lasted less than 24 hours! So tonight I'm making a double batch and hoping that it will last a bit longer lol! I took the advice of others and flattened the cookies throuroughly. I also used orange juice instead of water. Best ginger cookies ever, and they can easily be made smaller for ginger snaps.

Sweet Restaurant Slaw

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2010
I accidentally got a 2.5 oz package of coleslaw mix at the store, so I just used less of everything (like 1/4 cup of sugar instead of a 1/2 cup) I used 1/3 cup of Miracle Whip, 1 tbz of veggie oil, the original 1 tbs of vinegar, but all I had was white wine vinegar, and the 1/4 tbs of salt, ommitting the poppy seeds since my bf works for the government and poppy seeds would show up on a drug test. I added a green bell pepper finely diced. The flavor of the dressing is awesome, and I know that next time I will remember to get a 16 oz bag of slaw mix and I will follow the recipe exactly except for adding some green bell pepper...

Arrabbiata Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2010
We loved this Arrabbiata Sauce, just the right amount of kick, and very hearty. My boyfriend loves mushrooms, so of course I had to put some fresh chopped mushrooms in... They fit in well with the other ingredients, but I am sure that the sauce is just as good without mushrooms!

Guacamole

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2010
Wow, love this recipe! I followed the recipe exactly except that I used 1 steak tomatoe and I didn't have lime juice or cilantro. It was delicious even without those ingredients.

Onion Rice

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2010
I used beef boullion (broth) instead of chicken, because it's all I had. Still turned out great, and the pepper makes it a little spicy! My boyfriend loved it! I look forward to adding this to my recipe box and also making it my own, experimenting with different spices/veggies to add to it.

Mouse's Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2010
This is the first time I've tried making my own cheese sauce for homemade macaroni and cheese... I was a bit nervous as to whether I'd like the sauce, but this is delicious, and I will be adding it to my recipe box. I followed the recipe exactly, and this came out perfect. The bread crumbs just add the perfect touch too! Thank you for sharing this recipe!

Mom's Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2009
Thank you for sharing this recipe... It's easy and turns out so delicious and moist. I just made it for the second time, and will be sending the two loaves to my boyfriend in Afghanistan. The first time that I made it for him, he ate almost a whole loaf, a chunk at a time, in one day! He told me that I could make it anytime. So, I figured what better time to make it for him... when he really needs something comforting,to make him feel closer to home. Your recipe will bring a man far from his family comfort, and warmth.

Easy Lemon Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2009
These cookies are delicious! I followed the recipe exactly, except that I used the other reviewers' advice and used a TBS of lemon juice, a TBS of lemon zest, and I also added about a 1/4 tsp of lemon extract. I put the dough in the fridge for about 20 hours. It made the dough very easy to roll into balls. I used a little over a tablespoon to form the balls. After rolling the dough in the confectioner's sugar, I baked them for 9 minutes. In my oven, 9 minutes was perfect, they were just browned on the edges and perfectly chewy inside. I will definitely make this again. Thank you for sharing your recipe!

Sun-Dried Tomato Pesto

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2008
I'm not a huge fan of pesto, however, I really enjoyed this sauce. It was a great spin off of traditional pesto. I love sun-dried tomatoes. Not only was this flavorful, but it's also rather low in calories/fat. I used red wine, not red wine vinegar, and I forgot to put in the balsamic vinegar, but it still turned out really good. I'm excited to try it with the balsamic vinegar next time, and maybe I will try it with red wine vinegar instead of actual red wine. This recipe is versatile, and could be good either way! I also didn't have a food processor, so I used a blender. It takes a bit of patience and time compared to a food processor. I had to stop and stir it now and then to make sure it all got blended/chopped, but my blender doesn't work well, and it was definitley worth the effort! I put this over farafalle and served it with fresh french bread and the Easy Garden Green beans recipe on this site. Like other reviews have said, this recipe makes a lot. There are only two of us in the house, and we are gladly freezing the rest of the sauce to use for quick pasta dinners in the future. Thank you for sharing this simple and yummy recipe!

Broccoli with Garlic Butter and Cashews

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2008
Great sauce to add some zip to broccoli! This could even be used for a meat marinade. The cashews add a great texture and sweetness. I couldn't keep my hand out of the jar while cooking dinner! Mmmm. Thanks for sharing!

Easy Garden Green Beans

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2008
We love these green beans, and it was a good way to make use of the tons of green beans that we grew and that our neighbor insisted we take home. I wouldn't change anything about this recipe. Delicious, and unique. Thank you for sharing it! UPDATE: We also like using this recipe on fresh, steamed asparagus as well. It is even better on asparagus!

Rosemary Red Potatoes

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2008
These are a staple in our house now. When I want to make a hearty dinner with veggies and a side of any kind of meat, I include these potatoes. Quick, and delicious. You can add less or more of the seasonings to suit your taste. I live in the Northwestern United States, and this time of year we are blessed with special onions called Walla Walla Sweet onions. So I also added some of those. I also used fresh rosemary. These potatoes are very versatile and you could really add different spices for different styles of food.

Iced Pumpkin Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2008
Oh my, these cookies, are simple, and delicious! You are so right, they just get better with time. My boyfriend and I tried them with some coffee that we doctored with O'mara's irish cream liquor. It was a comforting treat on a cold fall night. Thank you for sharing it!

Lamb Tagine

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2008
I will second many of the comments made by others... I browned the lamb in a skillet, then put everything in my crock pot in the morning. I only used a can of chicken stock, and at first it doesn't look like it will be enough, but it is just the right amount. I actually had to add some cornstarch like suggested. My boyfriend and I could not wait to eat, we were thinking about dinner all day! The smell was marvelous! This dish is definitley worth the time. The lamb turned out so tender, it fell apart in your mouth. I served it over some boxed cous cous, with some fresh foccacia bread. Thank you for sharing this very ethnic and traditional recipe!

Manicotti Italian Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2008
This was a great quick, hearty and filling recipe. Next time I think I will add some spices (ground garlic or fresh minced) to the mixture, but otherwise very tasty. My boyfriend ate a huge slice of this casserole, then went back for another huge second slice. I will definitley make this again! Thank you!

White Bean Chicken Chili

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2008
Thank you for sharing this easy, yet marvelous chili recipe. I also used 2 jalapenos, and verde sauce. I served it with honey corn bread fresh out of the oven, sour cream and tortilla chips. There are only two of us in the house most the time, so we have some left over. But that's the thing about chili and stews, they get even tastier as the indgredients absorb each other's flavors longer. This stuff is even better as a left over. My boyfriend took some of the it to work today for lunch and said he not only liked it, but loved it!

Italian Spaghetti Sauce with Meatballs

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2008
This was my first time making my own red sauce and meatballs. I have to say that it was simple, with delicious results. I was very proud to serve the finished product. I don't know why people are making a fuss about the sugar. 1 teaspoon of sugar didn't make much of a difference in the taste. Consider that there is much more of all the other seasonings. I recommend trying the recipe the way it's presented here. It's definitley worth the risk. There are only two of us, so there was quite a bit left over, instead of cutting down on the recipe, we used the leftovers for meatball sandwiches! Best meatball sandwiches I have ever had!
