Just me :]
About this Cook
I live in Coeur d' Alene, Idaho with my boyfriend, roomate, and 2 dogs. I love playing video games, x-box, Wii, you name it, and I can beat any boy who goes against me! ;) I also love to fish, take walks with my furbabies and cook, of course!
My favorite things to cook
Anything and everything! I love trying new and challenging recipes, and changing recipes to my tastes. My boyfriend and roomate are VERY happy to play guinea pigs to my cooking creations :)
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandmother (we call her Nanny) grew up in England and came over to the states at about the age of 19. She makes the most AMAZING rolls, and they are huuuuge! I don't even know what to compare them with to give you an idea of the size. Its something I look forward to every holiday when I get to see my family. I'm also working on matching my mother's deviled egg recipe! ;)
My cooking triumphs
Hmmm triumphs, I think my biggest triumph was figuring out how to cook chicken so it wouldn't turn out so dry. I was always so afraid of getting some kind of food poisoning from raw chicken I would over cook it everytime and end up disappointed eating gross chicken. I since learned how to cook it just right and now I love trying new chicken recipes because I do a good job now! haha! ^_^
My cooking tragedies
I baked my dad a birthday cake and put the wrong age on the cake, if I remember correctly I made him 2 years older than he actually was! He wasn't too happy about that but he ate the cake anyway! :D Other than burning things here and there no big tragedies, but I'm still young! :P

Slow Cooker Dump and Go Cheesy Chicken
Super good and super easy!! This dish smells like possibilities :) I followed it pretty much to the book, but I cheated and lifted the lid about halfway through cooking, I just had to smell its cheesy goodness. I used 4 large chicken breasts cut into thirds, and instead of 1/2 cup milk I did about 1/4 plus a 'healthy' dollop of sour cream. Yum Yum Yum was great over noodles, I think next time I'll add broccoli and cauliflower. Thanks for a simple and delicious recipe Chris!

Slow Cooker Kielbasa Stew
This recipe should be called "Must love Sauerkraut", :P My boyfriend loved it but I am not such a sauerkraut fan so I didn't enjoy it as much, when I made this recipe I cubed the potatoes into smaller bits so they cooked through all the way, I layered those on the bottom and then sauerkraut, sausage, sliced apples, and poured the liquid over the top. Next time I will cube the apples as well and add them halfway through cooking time, they did get a bit mushy. A bit hit for you sauerkraut lovers out there! Thanks for the recipe Michele, even though I learned I don't like sauerkraut that much my boyfriend is a very happy man, haha! :)

Chicken Fried Chicken
What an amazing recipe !! I didn't have saltines or potato flakes so I used Ritz crackers and chopped them fine using my processor, also realized I didn't have eggs once I had everything laid out so I used another users suggestion for ranch dressing, turned out AMAZING!!! I would have never thought to use Ranch in place of eggs but I was pleasantly surprised by the results. In the cracker mix I used half a packet of dry Ranch mix, seasoned salt and garlic powder, I like to go pretty heavy on the seasonings and this recipe is very forgiving, you can use any seasonings to suite your tastes. I did 5 min on each side and then an additional 3 minutes on each side until done. Very very VERY good, I will be making again and again, THANK YOU !!!
