Absolute Best Pancake Syrup

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2014
Luscious! I made the exact ingredients called for. The only cooking method I changed was I let it cook a little longer than 10 seconds hoping it would darken the color (it did not and mine was very pale almost looked turkey gravy) and I added the vanilla after I took it off the heat. It was fantastic and a nice change from the traditional maple syrup. I won't replace it but will add it to the line up :) I did make it ahead to let it cool & thicken prior to using.

Black Magic Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2014
Never going back to a box again! I have never had much success with homemade, they were either dry or too dense. This recipe is PHENOMENAL! Deep, rich chocolatey flavor, almost fudgy. Light and fluffy and so moist, not dense at all. I followed the recipe to a T except I added about 2 tblsp extra cocoa (I ran out of the good stuff and was trying to compensate). I made cupcakes, 24 exactly, cooked for 18 minutes (I also only baked one pan at a time). A couple of tips: I used cupcake liners but next time will ALSO add cooking spray. (they were so moist, when I used a small knife around the edge to loosen, I destroyed a few). You must know these are SO delicate! I'm not sure how people are doing layers and decorating for bdays, I barely survived cupcakes! The cocoa I used was 1/2 c Ghiradelli and 1/4 c Hershey. Will use all Ghiradelli next time Do not overbake If your cupcakes runneth over, quickly & gently take a paring knife around the edges to loosen while warm, put on a rack to cool I had no problems with them running over and out of my pans at all. I filled my cupcakes up about 2/3 of the way. They do not "mound" on the top but they also did not fall in the center when cooled. Sort of just perfectly flat on top. Needless to say I wouldn't change a thing. May make some homemade caramel to drizzle over the top with a sprinkling of sea salt.

Amazing Slow Cooker Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2012
I tried this recipe some time ago and have been pondering how to describe its texture. First, the flavor is awesome, very deep chocolate. Second - I love the use of the crock pot. That being said, the texture was very odd. As others posted, mine cooked uneven (I did not peek and let it sit after it was done). The outer edges were bitter. The correctly cooked part looked awesome and even came out in slices like a normal cake. Its when I bit into it. I wouldn't describe it as rubbery but the best was I can describe is like a cake pop (which I detest). Looks good but tastes gooey like it has been soaked in something. BE WARNED - this is not your typical light and fluffy cake.

Lemon Lover's Pound Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2011
Very bland which totally shocked me considering the amount of sugar in it. I gave it 3 stars because it was SO SO moist. I, like a previous poster was bummed I wasted a lot of ingredients for a "meh" cake :( maybe with different flavors?

Mom's Buttermilk Pancakes

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2011
This is hands down the BEST pancake I have ever eaten! I would like to say that the first two times I made them, I forgot ingredients and they were still amazing! First time I forgot the butter, 2nd time I forgot the egg AND butter and were still delicious so the recipe is very forgiving and impossible to mess up. I will never buy pancake mix AGAIN! Great recipe (hats off to ya!)

Slow-Cooker Chicken Tortilla Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2011
This was AWESOME! Bonus that it was so stinking easy. I was really leery about using the enchilada sauce but it was so good. Very close to restaurant in AZ I used to eat at. Added little chunks of cheese and avacado to the bottom of the bowl then added soup...the cheese got all melty and gooey. Yum-o! I used 2 skinless chicken thighs and one frozen chicken breast (added last minute because I didn't think the 2 thighs would be enough). I pulled the bones out and just broke apart meat with a fork. It was the perfect amount. I also added 1 can of rinsed black beans and 1 small can of niblets corn about half way through....LAWDY LAWDY so good!

Blackberry Cobbler

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2010
I too had no luck with this recipe. I used all purpose flour and added the salt and baking powder as recommended, and left it lumpy so as to not overwork it. It came out rubbery and gummy. The batter was very very thin to the point I almost added more flour but wanted to follow it to the T. Bummer :(
