Peasant Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2009
This is wonderful! And so easy! Try topping it with a mixture of 3 Tbs melted butter, 2 Tbs grated cheese (I use a parmesan, romano, asiago mix made by Kraft), 1/2 tsp garlic powder and 1/2 tsp dried parsley. Brush this on the loaves before the second rising and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Excellent!

Easy Pasta Fagioli

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2008
Let me start by saying that we loved this! I did halve the tomato sauce and doubled the chicken broth and garlic as others did. It is a keeper, just as it is! However, in talking it over with my soup lover husband (who also gave it 5 *) I think the next time, I may add chopped green pepper, or chopped bacon, or some chopped spinach, or all of the above! Excellent recipe and so EASY!

Crustless Cranberry Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2008
Wonderful! We've had it both ways - as a pie and as bars, plain, cool whip, ice cream, warm and cold. This is a great recipe. The only thing we changed was to use pecans instead of walnuts.(I'm allergic to walnuts. I think we'll try it next with blueberries or blackberries!

Artichoke & Spinach Dip Restaurant Style

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2008
This was the best we've ever had and my daughter and I are big fans of the Applebees version. We did get a little carried away with the roasted garlic. We ended up pretty much doubling the amount, but it was great - not too garlicky, just enough. I do think cooking it uncovered for the last 15 minutes would brown it just a little more. This is already in our "engraved in stone - don't mess with it" family cook book!

Sloppy Joes II

We did not like this. It was way too sweet even with the changes I made. I added garlic and chili powder, replaced part of the ketchup with chili powder. I gave it 3 stars because it was edible.

Slow-Cooked German Short Ribs

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2008
We loved this! Couldn't find beef short ribs so I used boneless beef braising ribs. Used Apple Cider vinegar since that is what my German grandmother always used. Did not thicken the sauce as it appeared to be just fine. Served it over rice, but I think it would be even better served over noodles, spaetzl or even fettucine.

We loved this! Next time I may add julienned green pepper and some mushrooms.
