It's Chili by George!!

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2013
I love this recipe. The only "problem" I have is that it's be tougher in the last year or so to find the canned tomato juice. The only major chain of stores in my part of Los Angeles that carry it is Ralph's. I usually buy a couple when I see it on sale.

Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2013
This recipe is phenomenal. Used it for cooking for our local homeless shelter. Quadrupling the recipe fits in a full sized catering pan. Also, the amount of butter you need is very forgiving. You can double the butter and be okay.

Garlic-Lemon Double Stuffed Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2006
This recipe was excellent! My husband doesn't care for chicken, so I'm always trying new ways of fixing it. Well, you know what they say, cheese makes everything taste better! I butterflied the chicken breasts as directed in the recipe (rather than rolling as suggested by other reviewers) and it worked fine. Some cheese melted out, but not that much. I did take the suggestion of reducing the amount of cream cheese. I reduced it by about a quarter, but I think half would be better next time. I served this with pasta and we ended up cutting up our chicken breasts into bite size pieces and mixing it with the pasta. On top of the pasta, I just had a mixture of melted butter, lemon juice, minced garlic and dried basil. It was delicious! I will definitely make this again. It takes a little prepping, but it's worth it.

Spicy Garlic Lime Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2005
I loved this chicken! It was very easy to make. I used bottled key lime juice and pre-minced, bottled garlic. We had an extra breast and it tasted great sliced up on a salad the next day!

Sweet Spicy Wings

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2005
These are very tasty wings. I didn't adjust the recipe at all. What's surprising is that they aren't very spicy, considering you use a whole bottle of hot sauce! I guess the honey really tones it down. I love spicy food, so I'd probably prefer making buffalo wings, but I really like that these because they are grilled vs. fried. I made these wings and buffalo wings for a Monday Night Football game. The buffalo wings were a bit more popular (due to the spicy factor), but both were good because they were grilled! I originally made these wings because I had a friend with a 6 year old son and I wasn't sure if he could eat spicy food. He loved them!

Baked Slow Cooker Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2005
I followed the directions by putting the chicken on high for about an hour and then (due to being at work), I cooked it on Low for 10 hours. The legs were hard from touching the walls of the crockpot and then the thighs were pasty because they were so overcooked. We did not eat the chicken. I might try it one more time, but I would definitely use LESS time. I used a 4 1/4 lb. chicken in a 6 qt. crock pot.

Yellow Squash Casserole

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2005
Very good! It takes some prep work, but it was worth it. I added one piece of bacon for every squash and sauteed that with the onions and then added the squash to cook together. I took this to an Easter dinner and there was nothing left! Even my 5 year old nephew who doesn't like squash thought it was tasty!

Baked Garlic Parmesan Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2005
This was very easy to make. I was in charge of cooking dinner for 12 people on a ski trip in a cabin and this was VERY easy to make. I took the oil and garlic with me. I took the breading mixture already mixed in a ziploc bag and a bag of frozen chicken breasts from Costco. They thawed out pretty quickly and I baked them on a cookie sheet I brought with me. It was SO easy. Everyone loved them! I served it with some spaghetti and garlic bread and we had a feast!

Warm Blue Cheese Dip with Garlic and Bacon

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2005
This is very good. It was OK even for people who don't care for blue cheese. They didn't even realize there was any in it. I served it with cocktail toast which was just so-so. Italian bread or those crunchy bread squares or crackers would be better. The quantity seems so small when you're making it, but it is very rich, so it seems fine. I split the recipe into 2 small Fireking dishes (maybe about 1 cup each) and it was enough for a small party - about 10 - 12 people.

Down Home Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2005
I took this to a potluck and it was a hit!! Everyone loved it. Actually, I take that back. I had one co-worker who said it was "too cheesy" as if there IS such a thing! :-) It was the first thing eaten up and it was great. I would personally prefer it to be more on the baked or firm-side. It was a little runny, so I think I'll experiement with the liquids to get it more firm.

Actually Delicious Turkey Burgers

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2005
These were very tasty. I scaled it down, so the consistency wasn't quite right (but that's totally my fault - it's hard to get 7/8 of an egg). But all the ladies I had over for cards loved them!!

Sarge's EZ Pulled Pork BBQ

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2005
I really liked the taste and consistency of the pork. I used KC Masterpiece BBQ sauce. I used the pork shoulder roast which is the same as the pork butt roast. I followed the recommendations by some other reviewers and put the shredded meat back in the crockpot for an hour mixed with BBQ sauce, but one thing that we didn't like about that is the consistency of the meat from being stirred so much to mix the BBQ sauce in. Next time, I will follow the original recipe of putting BBQ on the meat when you're putting the sandwich together. Overall, very tasty and I would definitely make again. I used a 3.5-4 lb. roast and we got 10 sandwiches or so out of it. We used small hamburger buns.

These cookies were awesome! They have a nice amount of spice to make them much more yummy and not as bland as ordinary oatmeal cookies.

Chicken Savoy

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2002
My husband usually does not like chicken, but really liked this! I didn't have balsamic vinegar, so just ate the chicken prepped as directed sans vinegar! The chicken was perfectly tender and this really reheats well!

Garlic and Ham Spaghetti

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2002
I was a little wary at first, but it turned out pretty good. My husband liked it also, and he's on the picky side. This is a great way to use up lunch meat that's getting ready to go bad!

Chicken Breasts Pierre

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2002
This recipe is great! My husband doesn't like to eat chicken, but really likes this! I only used 3 breasts because that was all that would fit in my skillet that has a lid. I left out the celery seed and served with steamed rice. The only fattening ingredient is the butter, and that's pretty minimal, which makes this a great tasting low-fat recipe. I haven't tried it with the French bread, maybe next time!

Caramelized Baked Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2001
I thought this was really easy and quick to make. I used legs and the sauce didn't caramelize, but it tasted good. I will try with wings, which I'm sure will be awesome!
