Nutella® Hazelnut Cookies

As chocolate chip cookies, these are great. I agree with others though that the "nut" of nutella was missing. Maybe adding the hazelnuts or just a touch more nutella would help. Great cookie though.

Fluffy French Toast

I added a touch of clove, nutmeg and more cinnamon and vanilla. I used a really good sourdough bread and soaked it in between batches as it cooked to soften the bread. I was out of maple syrup, so a friend suggested honey. Yes and Yes. possibly the best french toast ever.

The Last Caesar Salad Recipe You'll Ever Need

This makes a nice thick dressing. Add a little more fluid for less thick. I added about double the lemon juice, a dash of hot sauce, and extra pepper. Perfect on some romaine salad with a chopped tomato and cucumber. I would give this 5 stars, but I thought the dressing was a touch thick and it needs slight adjustments on the ratios.

Sweet, Sticky and Spicy Chicken

This recipe needs a little work. I think it would have greatly benefited from some fresh flavor and maybe an acid to overcome the soy flavor. Next time I might add cilantro or a touch of rice wine vinegar. I breaded the chicken like others suggested, but crowded the pan because I am impatient and hate to do things in batches. I do think it would have been better with a crispier exterior on the chicken. Overall, a very simple recipe with ingredients I almost always have on hand. Very versatile, I added broccoli, sliced garlic, and water chestnuts.

Plum Crisp

I added cinnamon and all spice. It's hard to judge the sugar. Either A. follow the recipe exactly and serve with ice cream or add sugar til the raw plums taste sweet which will probably be more if you have fresh plums from the tree like I did.

How to Make a Tuna Melt

I used this recipe for simple tuna sandwiches. I added one clove of grated garlic and omitted the onion. I only had tuna in water. It was perfect. Sambal & capers. I would have never guessed. Yum.

Artichoke Chicken

i added red chili pepper flakes, thyme, 1/2 cup sour cream and 1/4 cup mayo and made this for 6 chicken breasts. I did squeeze out the artichokes, but there was a small amount of water in the bottom. I do agree this might be better with marinated artichokes, but I didn't have those on hand. 4 cloves shredded garlic and some salt and pepper instead of garlic salt. YUM. Served with sauteed kale.

Todd's Famous Blueberry Pancakes

Lime Chicken Soft Tacos

After reading most of the reviews, so many people said they thought oregano was a poor fit for this dish. The reason for that is that there are 2 types of oregano: Italian (regular) and Mexican. Generally, unless your oregano is labeled Mexican or you bought it at a Mexican store, it is not. The flavor is very different and would probably taste good here. That being said, cilantro and cumin would be equally good.

Sunday Morning Lemon Poppy Seed Pancakes

Very tasty. I might use all lemon juice instead of vinegar. Maybe 3tbs lemon juice. I used more zest, and next time 1 full tsp vanilla extract. Also, since I love poppy, I think you could do 4 tsp poppy seeds. Otherwise very good and fluffy.

Lemon Chicken II

Used just the sauce recipe and halved it. Followed it except I added the lemon juice at the end per another reviewer. I added about 1 lemons worth on a half recipe. Needed just a touch more, or maybe some lemon zest next time.

Perfect Lemon Curd

I was trying to conserve on the amount of eggs I was using, so I tried this recipe. I had the pot on super low, but I still got 3 spots of scrambled egg whites, so strain it. I'm a pretty good chef, so I think the scrambling has to do with the temp control for beginners, but also with how many egg yolks vs egg whites the recipe uses. I used another recipe before and didnt have any scrambled. I like my lemon curd tart, so I added more lemon juice and a 1/4 cup of lemon zest. Kept the sugar the same. Will make again.

Down-Home Black-Eyed Peas

The water at the beginning for the peas I lightly salted. Used one large smoked turkey drumstick cut the meat off and added it and the bones to the stew (fished the bones out later). Couldnt find the okra. Used 1 carrot, 3 celery stalked plus 2 cups of veggies I cooked with a turkey for thanksgiving. Followed cooking instructions. Turned out great :) Makes a lot of soup, I may halve it next time.

The Best Lemon Bars

I add 2/3 cup lemon juice and up the flour to 1/3cp. Used the full amount of sugar since I increased the lemon juice. I also added he zest from the lemons I used (1/4-1/3cup). Increased the bake time to 25-30 minutes. Perfectly tart.

Turkey Pot Pie I

My new favorite pot pie recipe. I pre baked my crust and added the filling. I made a roux first, then added the broth. Turkey was cooked with the veggies. I added some sage cause I like that herb. Super tasty.

Fish Tacos

On the sauce, I followed the recipe except for the dill. I hate dill. Well, I did add 1/8 tsp of ancho chile powder. I so wanted to fry the fish, but my new diet and inner voice said no.... This time I listened. I pan sautéed and seasoned the fish with salt and pepper and chili powder. I free styled a cabbage slaw. I finely shredded some cabbage and a carrot. I made a slaw sauce with some honey, lime juice, oregano, and cumin. It was amazing. This Recipe is great because the sauce and slaw can be made ahead of time and can be doubled or tripled for multiple meals during the work week. If you pan cook the fish or even bake it, dinner can be done in 15 or 20 minutes if the sauces are pre made. I made a guacamole and added it to the tacos. A squeeze of lime makes these perfect. I made these with California rock cod. This fish didn't cook well in the pan, it is a soft flake that kind of fell apart. This could also be user error (points to self). Plus side, the fish was incredibly moist and fresh tasting.
