I'm a married, stay-at-home-mom, mother of one 2 yearold. I'm a childbirth educator and doula. I'm starting university this fall. I stay busy doing lots of volunteer and charity work. My husband is from Nigeria.
My favorite things to cook
I love to make fajitas, fried chicken, ginger tofu, sweet and spicy salmon, cookies, West African, Somali, and Indian foods. I love Afghani food too!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Adding gari to bean soups. Making giant batches of cookies to give out on Eid and holidays. Getting together to make tamales. I have an old Southren living cook book series that I inherited from my grandmother. Any dish from there feels like a tradition. :)
My cooking triumphs
When I was 11 years old, I single handily cooked an entire homemade meal for my mother's birthday. I served 14 guests delicious enchilada pie, home made sour dough knots, an amazing chocolate cream cheese cake! It was to die for.
My cooking tragedies
I tried to make cookies without lots of ingredients(this was before I found out about the "food subsitute bible". They turned out to be like little hard rocks. They worked well as a teething biscuit though.
