Tomato and Pepper Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2009
I made this for a family bar-b-que and my 4 year old grandson and 3 year old granddaughter loved this and kept asking for more. Therefore, if children like it and will eat it, I have to give it a 5. The adults like and enjoyed it also, I made exactly as stated and it was a hit. The secret is letting it chill and using the freshest vegetables, home grown vegetables do extremely well.

Cucumber Salad I

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2009
This was a nice refreshing way to serve cucumbers. I only gave it a 4 because it is not a SUPER recipe. It is simple and good, but nothing that makes it "extra". This is the way southerners make cucumber salad alot. I used white vinegar because that is what I had on hand and I also added some fresh chopped dill. This is a good recipe and it always goes over well with any meal during the hot, summer months. Use onion as little or as much as you like, red onions can be strong, so you have to adjust to your personal taste. This is a good, simple recipe that anyone can make.

Adrienne's Cucumber Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2009
I used a red onion because that is my family's preference. I let this marinade for several hours, doubled the recipe to serve at a cook-out and it went over so well that people wanted more. I made and did not have time to let the next batch marinade for long and it went over well. Thanks for a great, easy, delicious recipe.

Carol's Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2009
This is a good recipe. I didn't give it a 5 because I did make some changes to the original. I omitted the water chesnuts because I personally don't like them. I added chopped pecans to the recipe and used 2 types seedless grapes. I took this to church for an afternoon reception. People raved over it and wanted to know who made it and the recipe for it. I think if you have to adjust the recipe or if you choose to, thenit is unfair to rate it exactly as written. It is a good basic recipe that can be played around with. Thanks for sharing!! Try my additions if you like pecans and see how people respond to it.

Easy as Pie Strawberry Pie

Reviewed: May 31, 2009
I made this for my family's Memorial Day cook-out. I used graham cracker crusts and even used the mini-crusts for the grand children to have their own pie. These were a great hit as always!!! This is the first time I used a different crust and my family raved about these pies and asked me to keep making them with the graham cracker crust. I also used fresh berries. This is an easy, refreshing summer treat when strawberries are plentiful. I have never tried it with the frozen berries, but this is a 5+ with fresh berries!!!

Watermelon and Strawberry Lemonade

Reviewed: May 23, 2009
I made this and another recipe from this site yesterday for a cook-out that my family and I are having today. I had to rate both of these and they both are 5 stars!!! I did strain this as others suggested, other than that I made as directed. WONDERFUL!!!! I am making extra batches so we won't run out, which I am sure will happen any way.

I did puree the stawberries as others suggested. I made a double batch last night to set and let the flavors involve. Needless to say one pitcher is almost empty. I will make another one today to serve at my family get together today. So easy and SO delicious!!!!

Kentucky Style Fried Green Tomatoes

Reviewed: May 19, 2009
After living all of my 53 years in the south, I can honestly say this is the best and ONLY way to cook fried green tomatoes, in bacon grease. It's a southern tradition. These are great, I do add a little cajun seasoning and a dash of sugar, other than that, I don't change a thing. Everyone that I have ever made these for raved over them and during the months when tomatoes are in over abundance, I make these often. This is by far the very best recipe that any cook can make successfully.

Easy Garden Green Beans

Reviewed: May 18, 2009
I followed the recipe exactly and these turned out great!! My husband loves fresh green beans, but usually the traditional southern way. He raved about these and wants me to serve them for a family get together. I will have to alter the recipe to fix enough for a group of 10-12 people, but I am sure they will be as imprssed as he was. A nice new way to cook green beans and with summer gardens coming in soon, I am sure many more people will love this recipe if they try it. It's good with any meat. Thanks for sharing!!

Twice Baked Potatoes I

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2009
I made these last night to go with a pork roast. They were delicious. I'd give this a 5+ if I could. The only change I made was, I added bacon bits to the top with the cheese. This is a simple but delicious recipe for twice baked potatoes.

Oven Fried Chicken III

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2009
I followed this recipe exactly except for the thyme, I was out. This was a great way to cook chicken so it was crispy, flavorful and not so greasy. My husband really enjoyed it. This was not hard to make and the flavor was great. Try it, you won't be disappointed.

Stuffed Chicken Breasts

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2009
I made this last night and followed the recipe almost to the "T". I forgot to saute the pecans first, but other than that and using cream of chicken soup because that is all I had, I followed the recipe. This was delicious. My husband said it was the best baked chicken he had every eaten. He loved the pecan crunch and flavor also. Thanks for a great recipe, this is definetly a keeper.

Delicious Egg Salad for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2009
I have used many recipes from this site and loved most of them. This was just a basic recipe, nothing spectacular about it. Egg salad is basically simple to make. I did try this recipe and added a stalk of chopped celery and cut down on the mayo. It was good, but again nothing spectacular. Therefore, I gave it a 3 since I did have to modify it.

Kentucky Biscuits

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2009
I and my husband consider me to be a good cook. Generally, though, I am not good at biscuits, but this recipe changed that!!! I made these after church yesterday to go with a pork roast that I had slow cooked. My meal was delicious!! My husband ate 3 at his meal and then went back and got 2 more. I am sure these biscuits will be made often in my house. I was very pleased with this recipe and did not change a thing.

Cheesy Zucchini Casserole I

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2009
I tried this and only made one change, I grated a clove of garlic into the butter and then melted the butter. This was a great side dish and my husband said it was the BOMB!! If you like zucchini/onion mixture, you will love this.

Tomato Chicken Parmesan

This was alot like a erecipe I got from watching Rachel Ray. I did pound the chicken down, other than that I didn't change a thing. My fiance' loved this and asks for it often. A great, easy delicious recipe. You can't go wrong with this one.

Easy Red Velvet Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2008
The only reason I gave this recipe a 2 was for how moist it is. It is NO where NEAR being a true Red Velvet cake. A true Red Velvet cake is blood red, moist and has a "tang" to it given by the buttermilk and vinegar. I was so disappointed in this and this is the first recipe I have used from this site that I wasn't raving about. This is NOT close to being a Red Velvet cake. Sorry!!! NO GO!!!!!!

Sweet Potato Pie I

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2008
I made 2 of these this week, one for a co-worker's birthday and one for home. My husband said it is the best sweet potato pie he has eaten and he has eaten alot. He had 2 uncles in the Army back in WWII and they were both cooks and great ones at that! This was an easy, wonderful recipe that anyone can do and be successful with. I will be making these for the upcoming holidays for my family. I didn't change a thing to the recipe except doubled it to make 2. GREAT!!! You can't go wrong with this recipe.

My family and I love these! I make them every year at the holidays. I usually add a drop or two of milk to keep them from being too stiff. I use hot sausage and sharp cheddar cheese. I usually use Jimmy Dean sausage. I've never had any compaints on these.

London Broil II

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2008
I tried this last night and broiled the steak in the over for 15 min. on each side. I marinaded the meat over night and it was delicious. It wasn't tough like I thought it might have been. I was very surprised and the taste was out of this world. My husband who is a meat man really loved it, he ate 3 helpings and wants sandwiches tonight. He is not a left-over kind of guy, so that says alot for this recipe. Thanks for sahring a wonderful recipe.
