Chicken Stew 'Fricot'

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2009
Very good. I skinned the chicken before browning, substituted seasoned garlic salt and dried parsley for summer savory, and chicken broth in place of water. Also thickened up the broth with a flour/water paste before serving. Tasty.

Pumpkin Date Bread

Mmmmmm good! Only made two changes--an extra tsp of cinnamon in the batter and two cups of chopped dates (just like them). Smells heavenly, too!

Praline Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2008
Very good. Followed the suggestion of underbaking the cake before topping with the praline mixture and it came out perfect.

Spiced Tea Mix

This is so good! I received it as a gift and had to make some of my own. I keep a tin at work, and it's been wonderful to have a hot cup at my desk on those cold wintery days.

Beef Stew IV

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2011
Let's face it--it's all in the broth when you're ready to serve. I simmered in beef broth, added extra garlic, almost all the seasonings others had suggested (celery, a little cumin, basil), and it turned out "biscuit-soppin'" good.

Frozen Pineapple Pie

Reviewed: May 27, 2012
Quick, easy recipe. I used grated lemon peel and beat 8 oz cream cheese with the sw. condensed milk as others suggested before adding the whipped topping and it was delicious. I used the "Easy Pie Crust" recipe on this site and it made a wonderful hot weather dessert.

Jalapeno Popper Spread

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2012
This is delicious! I modified according to other suggestions by adding a handful of cheddar, but won't do it next time because it really doesn't need it; besides, the cheddar tends to separate from the rest of the creamier ingredients. Very, very good!

Next time I will double the recipe (just as it is). These disappear in a hurry. Delicious!

Quick Biscuits

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2011
My homemade biscuit attempts over the years have usually resulted in substitutes for hockey pucks---not these! Very tender. I added a tsp of sugar and a little extra cream as it seemed too dry, also kneaded only five or six times. Very good.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Not a fan of the dumplings, but the chicken was very good. I may try it again with a different dumpling recipe.

Chocolate Trifle

A bit too sweet and artificial tasting for me. Husband didn't care for it, either. I had leftovers I eventually threw away.

Oven Fresh Seasoned Potato Wedges

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2010
Uncomplicated and very good, this recipe is a good alternative to a baked potato. I've made this recipe a number of times, and don't change a thing.

Date Drop Cookies I

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2010
I baked these cookies for my Grandma's 102nd birthday--she loves dates. Following instructions exactly, I thought the cookies were a little bland. So I sprinkled subsequent batches with a sugar/cinnamon mixture before baking and they were very good. Next time I'll use more dates and nuts. (Have to admit that the first thing I reached for all week when I walked in the door from work was one of these cookies. They stay soft to the last crumb!) And Grandma loved them, too.

Sue's Hot Fudge Sauce

Very tasty; however, if you are looking for a thick fudge for ice cream, this isn't it. It's more along the lines of a syrup.

I made this with only one small change, buttery crackers in lieu of saltines, and it was delicious. Making it for the second time this week due to an abundance of squash and zucchini. Wonderful!
