New York Cheesecake by Breakstone's®

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2011
Nevermind the other reviewers-this is really a truly NY cheesecake Here's some hints-Since its not sweet enough the ratio of ingredients, I added 3/4 cup more of sugar, I used Keebler's Graham Cracker crumbs (1 cup), I sized to 10" springform, baked it for about 75-80 mins with water bath to prevent cracking..I do agree the crust a thin but easily remedied by doubling the crust. I did not use the cherry topping-it did not need it!! With these hints, it really became awesome-Its better than bakery style-even better than Cheesecake factory!! This will be made from now on in my kitchen!

Heavenly White Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2011
This is a Swan's cake flour recipe. Following the instruction to the "T", it failed but after second time with my modifications, came out superb! Make sure eggwhites are at room temp. Next, make sure you use a non-metal bowl for eggwhites. Next, beat eggwhites till soft peaks form, THEN gradually add sugar while beating. Then gently fold in the whites into batter. This will ensure the outcome of the eggwhites to be fluffy and make the cake delicate, light, moist as a true white cake should be! With the modifications-TOTALLY SUPERB CAKE!! I definitely use this recipe again with my modications for the perfect outcome of this cake

Cake Balls

Even though I have used this with a box before in the past, this time I have used from scratch, my signature carrot cake and my bakery style cream cheese-all home-made, surely is a win-win combination!

Brownie Frosting

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2011
I found this after I had to salvage a failed recipe and did not know what to do with melted milk chocolate chips-this did wonders!! I had used what I had on hand but since milk chocolate was sweet enough, I made it with 3/4 cup of sugar, 3 tbsp of butter (already had butter/oil in the batch) and heavy cream, with the vanilla extract-turned out AWESOME! Became chocolate crack for sure!

Cream Cheese Frosting II

Truly awesome taste! I had to modify though for more bakery style instead of two cups of confectioners' to 4 lbs and used and increased clear vanilla extract to 1 1/2 tbsp-I did taste the original recipe truly amazing for home but I needed more stability-still truly awesome base! Ty for posting!!

Chicken Paprikash

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2011
Way too much butter!! I had to increase paprika to cut down the taste which worked in favor of it but did not like the consistency with butter too thick and buttery..like the other reviewer grandmother's paprikash, my mother did the same and can't duplicate. It was ok just enough satisfy craving but would cut back on butter next time or just use oil. Boiled chicken first in water til very tender (almost falling off bone) and used that water to add more flavor to skillet to cook chicken even more.

MaryAnn's Beef A Roni

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2011
Followed recipe to the "T" and found tomato sauce too much-this recipe easy feeds more than 8 people-12-16 more exact-very bland as well. In order to save this, I added more worchester sauce 1 tsp, added red cooking wine for more flavor, a lot of salt and pepper. The sour cream did not blend very well and because of too much tomato sauce, I added another cup of cheddar cheese. Next time will have another 1 lbs of ground beef to the mix-a lot is missing from this-this recipe definitely needs tweeking. Sadly I was hoping to find something better than boxed beef-a-roni..this does not quite "cut it."

Ukrainian Filled Halushky Dumplings

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2011
This is also a traditional Slovak dish but we have it slightly different. We make ours basically shredded up potatoes (to a paste-quick I use blender!), flour and egg then add bacon and cheese. There are variations of this dish but this is what I grew up on. I have since then added my own variations-Thanks for sharing!!

These are totally awesome-you cannot taste the wheat since the oatmeal evens it out-tastes awesome soft and the chocolate chips are added goodness. Fluffy Instant Donuts

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2010
Ok I just noticed something-without trying this out only by reading this ingredients and directions in which it is not adding up..You did not specify the 2 cups of apples if they are to be added to batter or after and what is up with the 1 lb. bacon?!! I can tell already this is gonna be disaster waiting to happen...

Easy Pavlova

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2010
This was very tasty..but I was looking for a pavlova not a cookie..This turned out for me as the merigue cookie than a pavlova-in which I never had pavlovas before-also took hints from one reviewer to leave it in oven for hours after baking-came out way too dry and disappointed-its great as a cookie but not what I was looking for on our Xmas table.

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2010
I like a sweeter sugar cookie-this is on the light side. Next time-may use more sugar. On the rolling side of this-I did take hints for rolling using parchment and wax paper-still was not easy at all and by the time I got to cutting out-dough was way to soft, sticking to cutters, making screw up cookies, because dough got too warm with all the trouble of just rolling this dough and had to chill dough. After consulting, I got it down to an art after I froze batch-this makes a lot of cookies!!-after freezing-let dough thaw-not completely-then on parchment paper and wax, roll out dough-after achieving rolling-I chill again- then cut with out dough sticking, easy to pull cookies out or just pull scraps away with ease. This made a huge difference in cutting out cookies without messiness and screwed up cookies. Now I have it down to keep dough chilled is key factor with this recipe..Just remember to to chill each time you roll flat and chill-then cut.

Impossibly Easy Cheeseburger Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2010
My mother used to make this all the time and she would do the same, add this here, there , to our liking. She would also use other bisquick recipes too. Very helpful to a single widowed mom of two small children, it was a keeper for her tight schedule, better than fast food, or boxed dinners! TY for reposting this as this is fond memories and surely be served at my table!
