Every year I look forward to watching that ball drop, Kissing my Charlie, and toasting the New Year and tossing a new nickle out the door with a wish for our new year together. (old custom) Then my lover and I sit and snack on Strawberries and Chocolates. Not gonna tell ya what we do… MORE

About this Cook
My hubby and I live in the snow belt of ny state. I love to cook and be creative cooking. Hubby likes to eat my cooking even the mistakes lol charlie eats anything is his motto. :) I love to garden. This year we are gardening in containers. easy to reach, easy to keep the wildlife out and closer to the kitchen.
My favorite things to cook
I like to cook meals that make folks feel good and go oh yummmmmm. When my hubby says I am a lucky guy and then yum I know its a winner.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I come from a family of women that cooked from scratch. that grew what they needed and canned what was leftover. In my travels I have learned many different styles from other wonderful women. So it is more then just my family that has influenced me.
My cooking triumphs
there are many.. but the one that means the most is from my daughter when she telephoned me to get my baked ziti recipe her favorite. :)
My cooking tragedies
lol oh my there have been so many over the decades..lol from childhood baking brownies by myself and using a 1/2cup of salt lol instead of flour lol they smelled good and my mom, with that proud look, served the first piece to my dads boss lol I shall never forget that look on that poor mans face lol

No-Knead Artisan Style Bread
excellent bread. I love the crust. Tastes like great grams farm bread. I make it in the same bowls she used. I doubled the recipe this time the last time the loaf was gone before I could blink! if you feel the dough is to watery add more flour, too dry more water. Part of making bread is using your sight and the feel of the dough. sticky like a marshmallow you break apart in your hands. dry is like leather so you add a bit more water. I have been making bread for over 4 decades now if it doesn't work its not the recipe. The weather also plays big in making bread and the altitude at which you live.

Cinnamon Stove Top Granola
wonderful and easy. fun for kids to help. so many different variations that you can use. for those that said to chewy .. you needed to toast it longer. every stove is different. I did mine slowly stirring constantly for almost ten minutes. you want a beautiful golden color like the picture. Make the perfect amount for several meals. Easy, fast, tastes great and good for you. My guys like it with milk and warm fresh from my pan lol once it cools and whatever is left I put in a tupperware canister and put it in the frig. I dont know how long it will last cause its go real fast in my house. I love mine with fresh peaches and some cream. or yogurt and dried fruit in the winter.
