Coconut Oil Pie Crust

Reviewed: May 23, 2011
The first time I felt like a piecrust was coming together properly! The Epicurious video helped a lot. Had to add a lot more water than the recipe called for, due to using all coconut oil. The crust was tough though. I think I used bread flour. Next time use pastry flour, and look into adding apple cider vinegar for a flakier crust

Chickpea Picatta | Post Punk Kitchen | Vegan Baking & Vegan Cooking

Reviewed: May 23, 2011
Eh...this was ok but not great. Used red onions instead of shallots, almond crumbs instead of bread crumbs. Calling it picatta is a little misleading. Expected much more flavor. The mashed potato recipe from this site is great, though.

Pretzel Knots, For The Last Time! « A Bread A Day

Reviewed: May 16, 2011
YUM. Dangerously good. They were gone in one day. Used half WW flour and added a little gluten, used turbinado sugar instead of brown sugar. Let the dough rise overnight in the refrigerator. Well worth the work!!

Gypsy Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2011
The seasoning in this soup is spectacular- it's the perfect combination of flavor: savory/sweet/salty/spicy. I enjoy making this soup with different combinations of vegetables, depending on what is in season and on hand. I always use homemade vegetable stock. I just made it with chopped collard greens and frozen peas (substituted for celery and green pepper) and it was delicious!

Dark Rye Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2010
Delicious! I was a little wary of all the sugar (molasses and brown sugar) but I guess it was to counteract the bitterness of the cocoa powder. I will definitely make this again. I made the dough in the bread machine and baked it in the oven.

Chili Cheese Dip V

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2010
Way too salty! I might try it again with leftover homemade chili, but commercially made chili in a can is very salty I guess.

Thai Spiced Pumpkin Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2010
Ok... first time trying red curry paste and I think the kind I got (in a can) was not the best quality. Worth another try with better curry paste.

Very good! Used roasted vegetable stock. Next time cut the onions in half before slicing- the pieces were too big.

A great approach to cooking beans and adding flavor at the same time. Used a whole sliced fresh jalapeno and made in the slow cooker.

Sherried sardine toast (Alton Brown)

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2010
A little too heavy on the sardine taste, next time add lemon juice to the marinade. But the combo with avocado was delicious.

Pasta With Veggies In a Tahini and Yogurt Sauce

Very good! I mixed up the sauce without water and let it stand in a bowl, then sauteed some onions, garlic, cayenne, and smoked paprika in olive oil. Added some roasted red peppers and the cooked pasta and tossed with the sauce. Drizzled a little extra olive oil on top- delicious!
