It's Still Dip Night...Just A Little Different

Saturday night is the designated 'dip night' in our house. We all look forward to it every week and the guys like to decide what we will have and what we will be watching. We set out a blanket, all gather on it, and enjoy whatever we decided on for that night. We joke that now that the girls are getting older/bigger and are joining us, that we need a bigger blanket, lol. When I found out that one of this month's Brand Partners was Sauza Tequila, I knew exactly what I wanted to do...A dip/margarita/appy night! I called some family, and everyone was ready to PARTY!!!!! The guys and I picked out what recipes we would make (hubby was in charge of making the drinks, and he did an awsome job picking out those recipes and putting them together for everyone), keeping with a Mexican theme, of course, and I got to work. Our menu consisted of  http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/The-Simple-Sauza-Margarita/Detail.aspx<   and http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Strawberry-Sauza-Rita/Detail.aspx<  for the adult drinks and http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Shirley-Temple/Detail.aspx<  for the kids. For the food, I made http://allrecipes.com/recipe/southwestern-egg-rolls/detail.aspx<   and http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Amys-Cilantro-Cream-Sauce/Detail.aspx<  for dipping, http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Yummy-Cilantro-Jalapeno-Hummus/Detail.aspx<  w/ pita chips, http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Mexican-Style-Surimi/Detail.aspx<  as a cheeseball w/ crackers, My own taco dip w/ tortilla chips, and http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Fruit-Salsa-and-Cinnamon-Chips/Detail.aspx< . My mom surprised us and made mini chicken tacos, mini beef burritos and black bean and corn salsa. I also made this for dessert http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Tres-Leches-Milk-Cake/Detail.aspx< , which was a huge hit! Everyone had a great time and the kids had a blast with the silly moustaches that we bought for them. The food was delicious, and the margaritas really made the pary...both were fantastic! The strawberry ones were all of the girls favorite. Thanks to Sauza for the inspiration for this...We had so much fun that we decided to do these get togethers every month with different themes.

That looks like you all enjoyed yourselves and the food. I love the idea of an "appy" night. I need to keep it in mind.

I like the Mexican-Style Surimi recipe. I think I will try this in a few days. Thanks for blogging on your "dip night."

About Me
Hi Everyone! My name is Christina and I live in Pittsburgh (born and raised here) with my husband, Jim (we have been married for 11 years), my son Gabriel (he is 7), and our twin baby girls born June 22, 2011, Abby and Ally. I love cooking and sharing recipes and have a pretty extensive cookbook/recipe collection. I think my love of cooking comes from my mom and dad. We are definately a family that loves to cook (AND EAT!). I also enjoy watching hockey, LET'S GO PENS!, walking, crocheting and doing crafts. I am looking forward to meeting alot of new people here, and sharing tips and ideas.
My favorite things to cook
EVERYTHING! I love trying new things and we are not a picky family, so anything goes!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Just cook with love and patience. I am 1/2 Italian and 1/2 Lebanese, so we have tons of family traditions.
My cooking triumphs
When I was maybe 12 years old, I had a dinner party for some close neighbors and I made stuffed shrimp, homemade gnocchi with sauce, salad, homemade croissants and creme caramel for dessert. I was so proud of myself. When I cook and I can see the look of enjoyment on the people I am servings faces, that is a triumph all in itself.
My cooking tragedies
None that I can recall, LOL!
