My favorite things to cook
Anything , really enjoy adding new ingredents to old recipes, love grilling veggies, yum, I so love making soups , stews, casseroles.I think experimenting is great fun when you change up a old faverite, and watch the eyes to see if they like it or not,,,sort of fun !!!
My favorite family cooking traditions
You know some things we have to have my Aunt's poppy seed rolls,apricot,walnut ones as well,, my mother stuffed cabbage, my father potato salad, some thing you just cant change if the parents are over,,, now my daughters loveeee trying new thing out which is a JOY ,, and our pick a nation theme dinners in the summer are a high point of the week
My cooking triumphs
To cater someones wedding, or a speacial day just makes it so dear, to know everyone comes to gether for family food and you make the learn what the families love from old recipes and new ,, brings touches of love and home to the affair,, which is what celebrating is all about memory's of loved one past and new one about to begin,,,
My cooking tragedies
one is my first dinner as a newly wed never was allowed in my mom's kitchen I knew nothing about cooking , put 2 cornish hens in the oven My husband was in the Navy and was to be shipped out,,, only been married a week if that,,,, on a hurried time frame ,I roasted the hens at a very high heat, blackened the birds, which were not even thawed out, and my resoning was simply this ,,, if it says cook them at 350 for 1 and 1/2 well it would make sense to me to bake them at 500 for a period of 40 minutes just sounded good to me, welllllllllllllll yuck black on the outside bloody on the inside,,, yes I cried NO we couldnt slavage it, oh well,,, thank god he didnt marry me for my cooking ,,,, although now he thinks I am the greatest yippie for me after 37 years I think I am doing ok !
