Excellent recipe- all the proportions are correct. Very nice. I look forward to making this again. Mmm... dinner tonight?

Sour Cream Coffee Cake III

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2003
How did this recipe get so many rave reviews? I can only imagine that it was due to brilliant chefs who adapted the recipe and achieved better results than I did (making the cake as the recipe direct). Very bland, and kind of soggy (yes, I _did_ bake it long enough). Perhaps it needs more baking powder? It did not have a nice texture and the decent flavor wasn't enough to make up for that failing.

Carrot Cake VI

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2003
Disappointing... this is a quick carrot bread with the distinct flavour of sugar water. By the way, it was done in only 45 minutes in my oven.

These are very good, and so easy, too! We served ours on a platter, sprinkled with paprika.

Mmm-Mmm Better Brownies

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2003
These are *wonderful* - I will stick with this recipe from now on! I doubled the recipe and baked it in a 9 x 13 pan, baking for about 35 minutes. I also topped the batter with butterscotch and white chocolate chips for a sweet surprise.

Insanely Easy Vegetarian Chili

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2003
This is a tasty vegetable chili. In response to an earlier post: it would be insane NOT not to rinse off the beans before adding them (to prevent, um, gas). I rinsed them and had no problems. In place of the missing liquid, I added some Campbell's tomato soup. I've made this chili four times. It's also easy to add some meat - about 1 lb. of ground beef will work well, if you don't mind eating animals.

Apple Nut Muffins

Reviewed: May 2, 2002
These were great! I didn't have any walnuts, but they still came out wonderful. I found that the recipe made about 28 muffins and that it took me a lot longer to cook them than I was expecting. I thought the oven ought to be a little hotter. They were wonderful right from the oven and then cold later. Yum!! I will definitely make them again and again.

I was making this dish for 30 people, and to save money I substituted 30 hot dogs and 1 package of American cheese.... everyone loved it! Thank you for this great recipe!

Mom's Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2001
This bread is EXCELLENT. So yummy, so easy to make (I just throw all the ingredients together and stir a bit). We were serving this bread to homeless people and they kept saying, "Zucchini bread? No thanks!" Then we called it "Cinnamon Spice Cake" and everyone LOVED it. What a great recipe!

Satiny Chocolate Glaze

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2001
This is a great, easy glaze. You can speed it up by melting the butter, chocolate, and corn syrup over medium heat, just stirring like mad so it doesn't burn. Add the vanilla last so it doesn't evaporate!

Italian Sausage Soup

I made this recipe for 40 homeless people and they loved it! I also added Italian seasoning, white and red kidney beans, and a box of wheel pasta. It was good with cornbread.

Oven Beef Stew

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2001
I made this recipe for 40 homeless people and they loved it! I couldn't afford stew meat so I used ground beef, which was yummy. I would recommend browning the meat beforehand.

Cherry Chip Cake

I have now made this cake dozens of times and I have never heard anyone NOT like it. It is my new specialty, but I gladly share the recipe, which by the way is EASY! I serve the cake with the Satiny Chocolate Glaze. I love this cake.

Gone with the Wind Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2001
This was a yummy yummy cake. But I sure was surprised at how hard it was to make an angel food cake, especially because I don't have an electric mixer. Worth it, though.

YUM! (I also tried rolling the tops in coconut before baking, which tastes yummy, if you like toasted coconut!)

Sour Cream Banana Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2001
I made this cake for a Scandinavian Club party and everyone loved it - I baked it in two 9-in pans and it worked out great. There was just enough frosting for two layers, so you might make more if you end up with three layers.

Very yummy! Yes - it may fall apart in your hands - but it's worth it! I used jalapeño jack cheese which added just a bit more flavor.

This cake is moist, but not very sweet. It made enough batter for two 9 in. layers and 12 cupcakes.
