Vegetable Beef Soup II

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2010
No beef bouillon for me because it contains MSG. I substitute the 5 cups of water for 4 cups of beef broth + 1 cup of water. Have always used 1 lb ground beef instead of the sirloin (that is what was on hand first time I made this). Works great every time! We have eaten this too many times to count - delicious recipe, thank you for sharing.

Easy Apple Rhubarb Jam

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2010
I always cut the sugar to 1/2 cup, and it is still delicious. Have made this easy recipe several times now, and it never lasts long!

Homesteader Cornbread

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2010
Substituted 2/3 cup honey for 2/3 cup sugar called for and substituted coconut oil for the vegetable oil (SO MUCH better for your health with all that good saturated fat). Wowee this was so delicious, I'm throwing out my other cornbread recipes and keeping this one. Thank you!!

White Chili with Ground Turkey

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2010
It must have been the cinnamon (and I only used 1/2 tsp) that gave this soup a very strange taste. Also, I cut the broth to 4 cups per other suggestions, and it was way too soup-like to be considered chili.

Chuck's Molasses French Toast

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2010
This was wonderul, thank you for the recipe. I didn't have any Challah bread and used sprouted bread (Ezekiel bread). The batter only made enouh to cover 8 slices of bread so I will double it next time.

Heavenly Shortbread

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2011
A hit every time with dinner guests - I have never received so many compliments on a desert!! I usually bake this in 2 pie plates instead of a jelly-roll pan, then cut pie shaped wedges. I use 2 bags of frozen berries (blackberry seems to be the favorite), heat them 'til bubbling and spoon over each wedge of shortbread. I use all organic ingredients so everyone feels a wee bit better about consuming such a decadent treat :)
