I was one of those picky eaters as a child. In fact, it was only when I moved away from home for college that I started to become a little more adventurous with food choices. I've learned a lot from roommates and friends, and am taking a more active approach to food/cooking. Thanks allrecipes!

Sausage Spanish Rice
I omitted the celery and used mushrooms instead. I used a lot more spice at the beginning- chili powder, paprika, turmeric and used basil/oregano mix to flavor the tomato sauce. Chicken stock instead of water. This is a versatile recipe which will use lots of veg well, with great flavor. And great served with sour cream!

Coconut Rice
I'd read a number of recipes for coconut rice before I tried it. I let the rice sit in cold water for 15mins before rinsing. I added coconut milk, water and chopped kaffir lime leaves. It was great with a Thai yellow curry.

Fried Potatoes
My grandmother used to make these potatoes, and it's been a family favourite since just about forever!
