Orange Pecan French Toast

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2011
I followed the recipe as written and found this to be way too sweet. I would recommend the clone of a cinnabon instead.

Western Potatoes

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2011
These were really good. I used pickled sweet red peppers because that was all I had on hand, but I have to admit that I was really surprised. Tomorrow I will use the leftovers and mix them with some ground beef and have a complete dinner. The sauce is freakin awesome!~ Great job Janice.

Gobi Aloo (Indian Style Cauliflower with Potatoes)

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2008
This is a great recipe for gobi aloo. I doubled the spices because thats just how I am. Cook on with lid on and is shouldn't be dry. Add a little butter or extra oil at the end if it seems dry. I love this kind of food. I served with Saffron and Cilatro long grain rice.

San Francisco Sourdough Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2008
It was great. Not as sour as I would have liked, but that was because my starter was only four days old. I will try it again next week when my starter has aged another week. But the flavor was great and it was easy to make by hand. I omitted the onions though, I just wanted plain old sourdough.

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2008
I just wish I had enough foresight to make a pot of coffee to serve with this. These were awesome. My wife and I both are adding this to our recipe books!! If you roll it tight it is easier to cut into sections. However, a previous post recommended cutting with dental floss, I will try that next time. But I have nothing negative to say about this recipe!! Enjoy..but remember to brew the coffee! Thanks for sharing.. P.S.-we never use bread machine, always by hand. We proofed the yeast with the warm milk and sugar, then started adding other ingredients.

Caraway Rye Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2008
Millie Feather- Bread genius! This was way better than I thought it would be. I doubled the caraway, but that was the only change. I baked half in a bread loaf pan and one in a round loaf, they did not rise very much when baking. However, this was probably my fault. After reading other reviews, I probably should have let the bread rise longer than an hour. You need to stop reading this and go bake some of this bread right now. AWESOME!! Making patty melts with what is LEFT...already ate most of it right away....

Quick Gnocchi

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2008
I have never made gnocchi before. I am glad that I read al the reviews first. This worked out very well. I added fresh garlic, some italian seasonings. I drizzled it with fresh garlic and olive oil instead of sauce. It turned out delicious and I am keeping it in my recipe box. After rolling out the first rope, I felt it was a little too long to work with, so I would recommend dividing it into four balls and then rolling into ropes. I served it with sweet italian sausage and the french baguettes submitted by Judy Taubert. I ate so much, I should have exploded!

French Baguettes

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2008
This was so flingen flangen awesome! From the pictures that are posted it is obvious that many of you are very good at baking. I however....am not one of those people. But, the bread had terrific flavor, better than ANY store bought! I used sea salt, that was my only alteration. I did not use a bread machine, my wife and I made it by hand. Our bread did not get bulgy on top. It that from the yeast? Should we let it bloom longer? Enjoy this with some pasta. Just my wife and I ate one entire loaf with the cabbage casserole I made for dinner...Thanks for the recipe! You ROCK! UPDATE: I am making more of this bread today! I used the leftover loaf to make egg sandwiches for breakfast.mmm

It was okay, nothing more. I added some chili powder to my plate to give it some flavor. Its just tomato bisque with chorizo added. I doubt if I will make it again.

Refried Beans Without the Refry

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2008
I did not have any jalapenos, so I made this recipe without. These beans a very good. I used chicken base instead of water, and some bay leaf, but other than that, followed the recipe. Topped with cheddar cheese and served as a side with Carne asada from my page. Thanks for the recipe! I hate store bought beans...too salty...

Taqueria Style Tacos - Carne Asada

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2008
The marinade was awesome, however...I used a crappy cut of meat so it was VERY dry and tough. I should have used flap meat which just melts in your mouth. I really enjoyed the flavor and will use again with better meat.

Shabbat Challah

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2008
To be honest, I have no idea what it should taste like . However, My wife and I spent the morning making this bread and when we tasted it, it was wonderful. Dense, hearty, soft, crispy crust. We enjoyed it very much and plan on making it for future gatherings with family and friends. We made the six braid version, we found a easy how to video on youtube that made it very easy to braid. We halved the recipe and it made a very large loaf. so consider that before making. Thanks for sharing...

Quick and Easy Green Chile Chicken Enchilada Casserole

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2008
I used carnitas that I had leftover from the recipe on my page, instead of chicken. I added chopped mild green chiles. I also added some black olives and only used the cheese to top casserole. This was surprisingly yummy. I only used a 8x8 dish because there is only me and my beautiful wife. We ended up with 4 HUGE servings this way. Very easy, very tasty. It did take twice as long to cook as stated in the recipe though. Enjoy!

Peach Cream Pie I

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2008
We used 4 cups of frozen peaches, and sprinkled the peaches generously with cinnamon. Tis was so friggen good. If I was on death row, my last meal would be Peach cobbler.......well.....sprinkled with bacon maybe. But anyway, it was only slightly runny, but it was probably due to my not being able to wait until it fully cooled to eat it! My wife used her pie crust handed down through her family and it was wonderful. Enjoy everybody!

Texas Hash

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2008
I was surprised at how good this was! My changes, I used long grain rice with cilantro added "cilantro rice from my page", Added cilantro to meat when cooking, added a can of peas and carrots, and topped it with fresh chedder and colby cheese. Really good recipe. My suggestion for future preparation is to add a tamale type crust. This would really bring it to life. I highly recommend that more people start experimenting with fresh cilantro. It really ads to many types of dishes....Good eating!
