About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
I really enjoy cooking soups and stews...any kind, there's never a recipe, and they're always good. I also make a pretty mean pasta, home made pasta is much simpler than you'd think.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family cooking traditions aren't passed down. When I go home, I eat food that I don't normally make. My family's German (I was born there), and some favorites are Rouladin, Spaetzle, pfannekuchen (crepe like pancakes), chicken fricasse, and although not German, Beef Wellington...MMMmmm.
My cooking triumphs
Potato Soup A chocolate raspberry mouse torte...this small, 9" torte, used almost 1lb of raspberries. Worth every single last one we put into it. This was the best cake/pie/torte I've ever tasted. Period. Thanks Canadian Living Magazine.
My cooking tragedies
Too many to mention, the down side of thinking you're more creative than you are!! LOL

Creamy Rice Pudding
Wow, simply awesome. I wouldn't change a thing. All I did was sprinkle a bit of ground cinnamon on top when serving...absolutely perfect! Thanks so much!

Gourmet Mushroom Risotto
Cook slow, and let all the liquid absorb before adding more. This risotto is perfect!! Everyone who I've made it for has said that it's the best they've ever had!

Italian Sausage Soup with Tortellini
I absolutely love this soup. It's the perfect companion to a blustery fall day! I used Red, yellow, and green onions, and much like other reviewers, added no salt and less stock so it's not too salty. I also used hot Italian sausage. I dislike zucchini, so it was omitted from the recipe, and I added celery instead. I've tried it with fresh and canned tomatoes, and there is little to no difference in the taste, but the canned tomatoes save so much time! I highly recommend this soup>>> :)
