Sweet Pepper Chowder

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2011
Very tasty! I did cut the milk in half, after reading earlier reviews, and it was just right! I added one of the new stock 'cubes' and a little garlic powder to the spices and a can of corn but otherwise followed recipe to the letter. Makes plenty of leftovers too.

Carmel's Crunchy Pea Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2011
I made this for a church pot-luck and it was wonderful. Quick & easy - this is going to be making a regular appearance on our table.

Marinated Baked Pork Chops

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2011
This glaze is wonderful! Nice that everything is on hand and it makes the chops so tender, almost buttery. I didn't change a thing & can't wait to try it on chicken. This is definitely a 'keeper'!

Tangy Poppy Seed Fruit Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2009
Made this for Thanksgiving supper - very nice & light, got several compliments on the dressing although I wasn't overly impressed. Perhaps it doesn't triple well. Maybe a little more honey, the dressing was pretty "juicy". Seems like a good summer salad!

Apple Bundt Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2009
This was a disappointing recipe. It as good as we were hoping. It was plain & boring, the cake itself doesn't have much flavor. The only change I made was going with some other's suggestions of using white and brown sugar. It looked beautiful but just not much flavor.

Juicy Roasted Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2008
I don't know how this simple recipe turns out so well but this is now my 'go to' recipe for roast chicken. My bird was a bit bigger so took longer to cook (use a thermometer!) I tucked onions & garlic in the cavity as well and used garlic powder in addition to the onion powder - Fabulous!

Creole Okra

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2008
We had a bunchof fresh okra and this turned out great. I added cooked chicken and it made a terrific main dish. This one's a 'keeper'.

One Bowl Brownies

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2008
I guess I'm a brownie-snob. I wasn't too impressed. The hard top and fudgy middle were okay but there's just something missing here. Try using the smaller pan, maybe 1 less egg - but the flavor just didn't seem right to me.

Broccoli Chicken Casserole II

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2008
Great casserole, even better the next day. I added sauteed mushrooms & onions and substituted Swiss cheese. I took the other's advice and cut back on the soup. The first night we served it over fettucini and the second night found it makes a great 'stuffer' for baked potatoes!

Chocolate Coconut Cream Cheese Frosting

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2008
I've gone over & over this recipe, trying to figure out what went wrong. It just wouldn't set up, kept adding powdered sugar, tried putting in the fridge. Frosting pooled around the bottom, none stayed put in the middle - just an ugly mess. Nice flavor but won't try this one again.

Chili Beef Casserole

Reviewed: May 14, 2008
Skipped the peas (that's just wrong) and used salsa for the tomato paste, substituted black beans (very nice) and doubled the spices adding garlic & cumin to the beef mixture. Also cut the onion in half, didn't miss the other one. Have to add more cheese too! Really good, my two college boys finished it off.
