Chicken Marsala

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2013
5 stars with my changes. I made as written first and the sauce was too thin without enough flavor for us. Next time I used ALL marsala wine (no sherry) and added balsamic vinegar to the sauce and thickened the sauce with a cornstarch and milk mixture. I will add more spices to the flour mixture next time as well for more flavor.

Italian Sausage Market Meatloaf

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2013
Best meat loaf recipe we've ever had!! I used Italian seasoned bread crumbs in place of the oats and did not add the corn. Made twice in same week we loved it so much!! I poured out grease a few times as it was cooking.

Amazing Pork Tenderloin in the Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2013
Cut garlic in slivers & inserted all over pork. Everything else I did exactly the same. I thought this was ok but my husband loved it! I'm just not a huge fan of onion soup mix. Maybe I'll use fresh onions next time.

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2013
This deserves its 5 star rating!! A lot of reviewers said to double the sauce!! So I did...DON'T!!! I had way too much!! I used a frozen deep dish pie crust for bottom & refrigerated pie crust for top. Next time I will use a bag of frozen mixed veggies & thaw them in place of fresh carrots & frozen peas. I also added a medium diced red potato (with skin on). I also added some garlic pepper & garlic powder to the sauce & sprinkled some garlic pepper on the chicken & veggie mixture that I boiled in 4 cups of water & added 4 chicken bullion cubes to. My husband & I loved it!!

Lew's Famous Lobster Pot Pie

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2013
Wow!! I don't usually make recipes with only a few reviews, but I sure am glad I made this one!! I have been looking for a lobster pot pie recipe & this one is perfect!! I made as written but substituted the lobster with precooked snow crab legs & precooked shrimp from the seafood counter at my grocer because it was much cheaper than buying lobster (and just as good in my opinion). Since my seafood was precooked it eliminated steps 2-4, which really saved on time! For the potato I used one medium sized red potato & left the skin on. I used skim milk & it still thickened up nicely. I used a frozen deep dish pie crust & put the pre-made refrigerated crust over the top. Oh, I did use vegetable broth instead of chicken broth to make this vegetarian for my daughter. This is absolutely fabulous!!! I also made the Chicken Pot Pie IX from this sight for my husband which has a 5 star rating with over 5400 reviews & this is just as good if you love seafood as I do!! Will make this often, thank you for the post!!!

Oatmeal Raisin Cookies IV

5 stars with my changes...combine 2 eggs & 1 Tablespoon of vanilla with 2 cups of raisins in bowl for one hour. Cream the butter with 3/4 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup white sugar, 1 sm. pkg of vanilla instant pudding, and 1 egg. Use 2 teaspoons of apple pie spice, 1 teaspoon of baking soda & 1 teaspoon of baking powder & 1 teaspoon of salt.. Everything else was the same. Baked for 11 minutes on parchment paper = the best oatmeal raisin cookies I and my family have ever had!!!!

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2012
Wow! This was my first homemade apple pie & I will never need another recipe!! My daughter & step son said it was AMAZING & that's quite the complement coming from 2 teenagers!! I used 5 Granny Smith apples & added 1 1/2 teaspoons of apple pie spice as well as took away a tablespoon of water & replaced it with a tablespoon of vanilla. I added an extra tablespoon of flour, but I don't think I needed it. My sauce was like caramel, not thin at all!! I mixed the sauce with the apples then put them in pie crust reserving some to brush on top of crust. This recipe deserves all the hype!!!

Cocojito (Frozen Mojito)

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2012
I made these for my girlfriend & I and we both loved it! I used coconut flavored rum and just the juice of two limes. You can find the Coco Lopez at Walmart Super-centers, Super Target stores, Jewel, Big Lots and many others. There's a list of stores that carry it on cocolopez.com...It comes in regular and lite! I couldn't find it at my local grocery store the first time I made this and used a different brand, but noticed after I found the Coco Lopez that even the regular has less than half the calaries, sugar and fat than the brand that I bought the first time...and it's cheaper!! :)

Baked Oatmeal I

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2012
I really liked this. It has a corn bread consistency so it's really good dipped in milk or with a pat of butter. I used half brown & half white sugar in the batter. I also added some vanilla & finely chopped almonds. I sprinkled the top with apple pie spice instead of cinnamon. Next time I will add some of the spice to the batter as well.

Tie-Dye Fruity Cupcakes

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2012
These are super cute & yummy! I used Pillsbury Pink Lemonade frosting & it paired perfect with these! 2 tablespoons is way too much! I didn't measure, but I would guess I used 1 or 1 1/2 tablespoons of each.

Simple Chicken Brine

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2012
Awesome brine! Use before I cook all my chickens in my rotisserie. I use 1/2 gallon of hottest water from tap, dissolve salt & sugar. Add ice cubes & fill to whole gallon. Add soy & olive oil & refrigerate. Rinse before I season to my taste before cooking.

Baked Potato Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2012
One of BEST recipes on this site!! I doubled the recipe & glad I did! Cook the whole package of bacon to crumble for topping, I only cooked 7 pieces & we needed more! I also added a can of sliced carrots. I also used half basil & half thyme. I also added 2 stalks of celery to the onion & garlic sauteed in the bacon drippings. I cut green onion (scallions & chives) for topping as well as the crumbled bacon & shredded cheese. I fed a family of six & everyone raved about it!! Oh ya, I also baked my potatoes in the microwave & cubed without removing the peels. Wanted to keep the vitamins! :)

Restaurant-Style Buffalo Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2012
These are awesome!! I have made them in the oven & in my deep fryer. Both ways are good, but deep fried is better!! I use more butter to hot sauce ratio to turn down spice. I also melt the butter/hot sauce mixture in the microwave. Whole family LOVES these!

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2012
Omg!!! So easy & so yummy!! Easy to make substitutions too! I was out of chili beans so I used a can of Ranch style beans. Used 2 cups frozen corn instead of canned & used 2 14.5oz cans plain diced tomatoes & added can do mild diced chilies because that's what I had on hand. Shredded chicken after 5 hours & added back to pot, but ate about 15 minutes later & was awesome!!
