Chef John's Beef Goulash

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2014
Way too spicy for everyone's taste. I had doubled the recipe for 8 servings. I had to rinse the meat and reserved a few tablespoons of the gravy. I had beef broth and made a regular gravy and put the meat in the new gravy and served over a fresh batch of noodles. If I would use this recipe again, I will delete the cayenne pepper and the teaspoon of ground black pepper.

Fried Egg Sandwich

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2013
I used bacon fat and added crumpled bacon to the top. Did not use mayonnaise or ketchup. I did have some on the table but it was not used. Delicious without it.

Cottage Cheese Roast

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2011
Sorry! No rating! In order to post I had to rate it-should be a minus one star. I'm not a vegetarian but I thought I would make this as a side dish instead of potatoes. I thought it would taste like meatloaf but it didn't come close. All I could taste was the onion mix and walnuts.

Grandma's Slow Cooker Vegetarian Chili

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2010
I've made this several times using the suggestions submitted by others but definitely prefer the orignal version. Twice I found I had no baked beans but used a 16 ounce can of white kidney beans. Just as good. Thank you, sellitman, for sharing your Grandma's recipe.

Salt and Garlic Bagel Chips

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2008
Thank you for bringing this recipe "back" - I tried it last year during the holidays and everyone raved about it. I had two holiday events catered, one I forgot to order appetizers. I went to and this is one of the recipes I had saved. I omitted the salt and pepper and had it at the table. I also had marinara sauce in small bowls and chopped eggs, onions and caviar to spoon on top of the bagel chips. As one reviewer stated, "they went like hotcakes". Thank you, Robyn.

Apple, Pecan, Cranberry, and Avocado Spinach Salad with Balsamic Dressing

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2007
Awesome! I did omit the spinach and red onion but substituded baby lettuce and Vidalia Onions. I used a Sour Cream and Cream Cheese Dressing instead of vinaigrette (which I did not have). Everyone loved it and will make it again.
