French Toast Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2008
A perfect recipe!!!! Made the whole house smell great, too. In the future, I will try making different variations - apple, pear, pumpkin, orange zest. The original recipe needed no adaption to be delicious, though. All 5 of us gave it 5 stars...nearly an impossible thing to achieve for any recipe!

Butterscotch Fondue

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2008
I am not the biggest chocolate fan and a friend made this for a fondue party last night. It was AMAZING! So wonderful with apples and bananas. I plan to make this ASAP. It was runny, but there's enough flavor that it doesn't need to be loaded on at all.

BBQ Country Style Ribs

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2009
I followed the recipe to the letter and it was so dry. We threw away the leftovers and 2 teen boys who LOVE BBQ only finished half their serving.

Cucumber Sandwiches III

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2009
These were fantastic. I made 2 mistakes, though. What a forgiving recipe! Thought I had the Italian herbs at home but didn't and didn't substitute anything for them. Also didn't have time to let the spread sit overnight...it had only 1-2 hours. I bought fresh dill and chopped it all up and mixed it in. At first, it tasted really mayonnaise-y but all put together, it was addictive. I served them at an 8-year-old's tea party and every kid and adult devoured them! MMM! I think I'll make them this way again. The fresh dill made them.

Slow Cooker Spare Ribs

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2009
This was YUMMY!!! I used BBQ sauce in place of the tomato soup. One word of caution...boiling the ribs is really messy. Use a larger pot than you think you'll need because there will be tons of foamy fat that rises to the top. Except for the unwieldy process of boiling the ribs, once the crockpot got involved it was a breeze. Made the house smell incredible.

Grandma Jeanette's Amazing German Red Cabbage

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2009
I got a red cabbage in my produce delivery last week and wondered what I was going to do with it. So thrilled I came across this recipe. What a winner! It was an AMAZING fall recipe. I made it exactly as the recipe said and served it with a roasted pork loin and it paired beautifully. My 3 kids and husband all loved it.

Roasted Pork Loin

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2009
Yum, yum, yum, yum. We loved this. I used fresh rosemary and a 3 lb boneless pork loin roast. The house smelled unbelievable while this cooked. It took just over an hour at 350 so way shorter than expected. Paired beautifully with Grandma Jeanette's Amazing German Red Cabbage on this site.

My family of 5 loved this. I made it with butter and only 8 oz of cream cheese and it was perfect.

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2010
I'm not a big pot roast fan, but this was great. Used one can of beef broth and no water. Had a bigger can of mushroom soup and dumped the whole thing in. There was a ton of gravy and it was flavored really well and had a nice creaminess to it. Added 2 chopped baking potatoes and 5 carrots and cooked it all on high in the slow cooker for 5 hours. It was delicious and the family all loved it!

Baked Kale Chips

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2010
I'm not a kale fan but I keep wanting to eat it for health. Tried these with sea salt and they were terrific. The kids like them, too. Gone in 5 minutes. Important that they get crispy! Made a batch of beet greens the next day with no salt and they were okay, too. Not as good, but a good way to pack in those veggies.

Ratatouille Bake

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2010
As this reads, it was horrible. The eggplant was very bitter and the whole dish was affected. I'm fairly new to cooking eggplant and told a friend I had made and hated this. She thought it was because I didn't salt the eggplant beforehand. Not sure that I'll make it again, but if I do, I'll salt for 30 minutes to draw out the bitterness first.

Super Fast and Easy Chicken a la King

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2010
This was an incredibly boring meal. It looks boring and tastes boring with little texture. The only change I made was leftover turkey for the chicken. You're basically eating a can of cream soup. Sadly, the kids are vacationing with the grandparents so my husband and I have EIGHT servings to eat on our own.

Terrific! I doubled the recipe, added mini choc chips for Halloween and served it with unsweetened applesauce on top. My family of 5 loved them!

Whole Wheat and Honey Pizza Dough

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2010
This was okay but was such a breeze to whip up and so healthy that it may be my new pizza recipe. Makes one pizza that's not too big but the whole wheat must make it more filling because my husband and I were totally full after 1/4 of the pizza each. I would add a little more salt and honey though...it was a bit bland. Updated 12/5/10 - I tried this again with whole wheat pastry flour, 2 tbsp honey and 2 tsp salt. Rolled it a bit thinner, too. MUCH much better. The last time when I made the original, it was a weak 4 stars...now it's a strong 4 stars. The kids raved about it and it wasn't so "thudball" with the lighter flour. PS...The dog ADORES the remnants of this crust. : )))

Creamy Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2011
I followed the recipe exactly for lunch today. My husband and middle son thought it was the best mac and cheese they had ever had(BY FAR!). My daughter and I prefer baked mac with crunchy breadcrumbs so we just thought it was okay. Not this recipes fault, though! While I love dijon mustard, my daughter and I didn't like it in this...even though it's a small amount. Also, this serves 10 as a side dish not a main course.

Easy and yummy. Made it today for a special Valentine's Day brunch over pancakes. Cooked whole frozen berries and pureed after it was all cooked with an immersion blender and came out great.

Easy Tasty Dates

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2011
These were AMAZING! I used turkey bacon and skipping the balsamic glaze completely and they were a huge hit at my Oscar party. They were best right out of the oven when the goat cheese was creamy. My guests loved them and not one was left. Will make this again FOR SURE!
