Creamy Chicken and Rice Soup

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2010
This was very good! I cut the recipe in half and there was still a lot left over! It did turn out more like a stew than a soup, so if you like it soupier, add more milk. I happened to enjoy it as a stew. The only thing I did was use white rice instead of brown as a personal preference and I used all chicken broth versus water. I also added minced garlic as I am a garlic fanatic! The only thing I might recommend is adding a vegetable like carrots or brocolli for color. My rice-phobic 13 year-old stepson even really enjoyed it! Thanks! It's an awesome recipe!

Party Pinwheels

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2011
I made these and everyone loved them! The only things I changed were that I mixed it all together instead of topping the mixture with the peppers and olives (we didn't add celery). It was too tedious to top it all and easier to just spread it all on. I used orange bell pepper and it added sweetness and toned down the dip a bit. I think using the red pepper is why some may have found it a bit salty, but the orange pepper helped that!

Homemade Mac and Cheese

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2010
I have to say this was very good, but a little bland as well. I added some onion and garlic to the mixture. 3 cups of milk was just a bit much, but you have to let it rest for a while after taking out of the oven (about 15 minutes) to thicken up. I added Durkee's French Fried Onions instead of bread crumbs and the family ate it up!

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2012
This is so wonderful and easy to make. I followed the recipe closely the first time I made it, and while it was very good, I wanted to add more. First, I used chicken broth like others suggested instead of water. I put in 2 cloves of garlic as well as thyme, salt and pepper. I also like different dumpling choices, so I used gnocci which is absolutely terrific with these flavors. I am making it now and am adding green beans to it for an extra veggie choice! I also add a little cornstarch near the end to thicken a bit. Thanks Janiece!!

Lower Fat Banana Bread I

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2011
I loved this recipe! We have been watching our weight but had leftover bananas that were ripe and I didn't want to throw them away. I used the suggestion from one of the other reviews and used applesauce instead of butter and I put almost two cups of mashed bananas in it. I also added the cinnamon and vanilla. It was SO moist and delicious. Thanks for the recipe and added suggestions. I would definitely make this again!

Berdean's Cube Steak

Reviewed: May 6, 2014
I thought this was extremely good! After seasoning them with salt, pepper, garlic powder and onion powder, I dredged the cube steaks through flour and browned them in the oil. I then took another reviewers suggestion and put them in a crockpot with sliced onions and minced garlic and 3 cups of beef broth. I let them cook for 4 hours on low. They were so tender! I then strained the broth and used that to mix with two brown gravy packets, put the meat mixture back in crockpot on high and poured the gravy mixture back in. I let that cook for about 1/2 hour while stirring and then let it sit on warm. It turned out fantastic. We served it over wide egg noodles. Great recipe! (I then had it for lunch two more days!)

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2013
Wow, this was very good! I actually ran out of brown sugar and only had about 1/2 cup so I added in white sugar to get to the 3/4 cup. I had 3 very large ripe bananas to use. I took another reviewer's advice and added about 3/4 tsp of cinnamon and a dash of vanilla extract. I then put them in muffin tins instead of making it into a loaf. 325 degrees at 25 minutes was absolutely perfect. So moist and yummy! I really think the key is to not over stir the mixture once you add in the flour. Just enough stirring to get it fully mixed and it turned out wonderful. Great recipe!

It's Chili by George!!

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2013
I made this chili and my husband raved about it! I made a few changes...I realized that I only had a 15 oz can of tomato sauce and no tomato juice so I used a suggestion from another reviewer and added bloody mary mix about the size of the tomato sauce can. I also added a can of tomatoes chili style and sauteed the ground beef with onions and garlic first. Have definitely saved this to my recipe box! Thanks George!!

Baked French Fries I

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2012
I thought this was an awesome recipe! I have a picky teenager who only eats potatoes in french fry form. So, tired of not knowing what sides to make, I had a potato in the fridge. I found this recipe and tried it and it was a total hit!!! He asked for them again tonight and I feel they are much healthier than frying (not to mention less mess)! I did adjust to everyone's review and set temp to 400 degrees, but I ended up leaving them in longer as he likes them crispier. Thanks for sharing Ashlee!

Corn Dog Muffins

Reviewed: May 22, 2008
This recipe was a hit! I made these for my stepson's school lunch and they ate them up very quickly! I did change the recipe slightly by cutting the hot dogs up and mixing them in the batter and used a mini muffin pan instead of the large. Great treat for the kids!
