About this Cook
I am certified cook, love it, and cooked professionally right from the railway to my family and friends.
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking anything and everything! I always like trying new things and learning little tricks of the trade.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I have a big family and love cooking for them. Right from Christmas dinners to birthday parties or just for family get togethers.
My cooking triumphs
I love it when my kids or friends call me up and say, how do you make this or that. I also get the old S.O.S and try to help save a dish that went wrong. Unfortunately it ends up as something else, but usually ends up tasting great anyways.
My cooking tragedies
The first time I tried to bake bread was when my kids were very young and I was without any knowledge about cooking. I used hot water instead of tepid and ended up killing the yeast. I was heart broken because it smelled so good in the oven and my family couldn't wait until I was ready to serve it. When I took it out of the oven, my husband looked at my tear streaked face and said look kids, mom made bread...isn't that great! After that I read up and learned how to make bread and the next time I made them bread it was great! and learn...LOL

White Sloppy Joes
I tried this recipe as it is written and found it to be like bland hamburger gravy which my family did not like at all. After careful thought, I decided to try it again and kicked it up a notch adding sauteed onions, celery, green and red peppers for more body and flavor. It was much tastier with more color and appealing to the eye as well as the tummy. My advice is to ad what ever you like to suit your families tastes.

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes
I love this recipe and have made it on several occasions in the past so I now consider it my regular pancake recipe. This time I made it into a pancake mix by tripling the recipe (only using the dry ingredients) less 3 tsp of baking powder and adding I cup plus 1 ½ tbsp powdered milk. When I mixed a portion of it for breakfast this morning, I only added water, eggs, and vanilla. It was fantastic! Now I have it in a sealed container in the cupboard and readily accessible so I can have it ready in a pinch. So go ahead; try it as a mix. It's inexpensive, always on hand, and awesome!
