All-Day Apple Butter

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2001
This is a FABULOUS recipe. I did alter it a bit because I don't like it really sweet. Because my apples were Golden Delicious and Galla, I only used 2 1/2 cups sugar. I used about 10 apples. I didn't have ground clove, so I used 3 whole cloves tied in cloth. I also didn't finely chop the apples. They were coarsely chopped. It still had a great consistency. It turned out to have tiny pieces of apple. The smell it gives to your home will bring you much comfort!!! Thanks for a great base recipe!!!

Pecan Crescents

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2001
THANK YOU, Cheryl! In the south, we refer to these cookies as Southern Wedding Cookies. I have been trying to find this recipe for years. I remember as a child, every wedding I have ever been to had these cookies! I tried to find the recipe in time for my wedding...I now am in Washington state and wanted reminders of home. I didn't find in time for my wedding. However, I passed your recipe off to a girl getting married soon. Thanks so much for this great recipe!! It is exactly as I remember!

Best Carolina BBQ Meat Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2003
Thank you Thank you thank you! I am a Carolinian and with my own slight adjustments, I found this to be the closest to what I grew up with.....my family butchered their own meats and held their own pig pickins- Just like my grandaddy's..who was a butcher by trade! Thanks again for sharing.

I experimented with your recipe and found your recipe to be a good base for a creamy garlic butter sauce. Thanks Candy

No Bake Peanut Butter Pie

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2001
I have been looking for a peanut butter pie that resembled the kind my Grandmama made when I was a kid. Next time I think I will add chocolate drizzle or chocolate crust!! Thanks for the great recipe

Bacon Roll Ups I

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2003
INgredient combination was good. I just used two tortilla's for each roll up....Spread cream cheese mixture on first one, roll up. SPread mixture on next one...roll around the first one-then wrap with bacon. It was great and the bread was nicely crisp too. I did cook longer only for fear of undercooking bacon and it was still great! Thanks for a great starter recipe

Crabmeat Toasts

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2001
I didn't like this at all. Way too salty and too greasy. I served for guests at a dinner party and they were all very unimpressed. I used on party rye. Maybe better on thicker pieces of bread that can soak up all the grease. Won't even try to modify this one.

Carolina BBQ

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2003
I am a Carolinian and my family butchered their own hogs....this is not a good substitute for traditional BBQing. The spices sound great-just oven cook this meat, add a little smoke and a tad bit vinegar......never use red sauces and Carolina Pork BBQ!!! NEVER! Use Piggy Park or make your own. This recipe does make tender meat...just not close enough to Pig Pickin' quality...so why bother.
