Just Like Wendy's® Chili

I've been trying different chili recipes searching for that one that will be our go to favorite. For us, the search is over. This recipe was perfect for our tastes. The only minor adjustment I had to make for personal preferences was to cut the onion and green bell pepper to 1/2 each. Unlike other recipes, the outcome wasn't a decision to use it for a base recipe next time but try to make it better by substituting all sorts of ingredients. We loved it as is.

Baked Pork Chops I

These turned out very tender and did not dry out at all. I need to remember to season them a little heavier than what I am inclined to when it says "season to taste".

Country-Style Steak

This was pretty good. I'll make it again. The meat came out so tender we didn't even need to use a knife. I might consider doubling the gravy. I appreciate the simple, uncomplicated ingredients to get a nice dinner on the table.

My Chili

This was really flavorful but it did resemble the flavor of pasta sauce because of the oregano. We added an extra can of beans drained, only used one white onion, and added some cayenne pepper to give it a kick. We'll try this again but back the oregano off quite a bit to maybe only 1/2 teaspoon at the most.

Banana Sour Cream Bread

This is now my go to recipe for banana bread. I chose to add the cup of nuts. Like others, I baked in 2 larger loaf pans and upped the temp to 325. After 1 hour they were nice and brown but yet not done in the center. I turned the temp down slightly and placed a piece of foil across the top to keep them from burning on top. Total bake time ended up at 1 hour 15 minutes.

Candied Carrots

Yummy and so simple. I used baby carrots and they were cooked through in less than 15 minutes. Hubby didn't care for as much, but this is simple enough to make as a side just for myself.

Restaurant-Style Potato Skins

Chili Rellenos Casserole

Very tasty, and it was so easy to put together. Next time I might just try all evaporated milk and one extra egg to see if it firms up more. I had a 10 oz can of enchilada sauce so I used it in place of tomato sauce. I bet the leftovers will taste even better tomorrow.

Cheddar Biscuits

I barely sprinkled any garlic salt and it was perfect for us since hubby isn't a big fan of garlic. So easy to mix up and they're done in no time. It might be fun to experiment with different cheeses

Sherry Braised Beef Short Ribs

Such good flavor! Simple ingredients with an awesome result. I served over mashed potatoes. Perfect for starting on Sunday afternoon and enjoying a wonderful dinner with crispy dinner rolls and a nice salad. 10 star worthy.

Daria's Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff

Very rich and full of flavor. The only thing I did differently was to use half cream cheese, half sour cream, and probably only about a heaping tablespoon of chopped parsley. The sauce was not thin at all perhaps because my slow cooker tends to cook on the hot side and is ginormous so the contents really didn't make up a very deep layer so it's possible excess liquid had just cooked off. I really liked it and will make it again.

Slow Cooker Taco Soup

I made this exactly as written and we thought it was delicious. An added bonus is how simple it was to put together. I had the ground beef cooked, all the ingredients assembled in the slow cooker, and the kitchen cleaned up in less than 20 minutes before I rushed out the door to get to work. I added a bit of sliced avocado, crushed tortilla chips, shredded cheddar, and a bit of sour cream to individual serving bowls. Served with a cornbread muffin and we were set. This is a keeper!

Chicken Puffs

We couldn't believe how good these were. I was worried they would be overly rich, but no so. I didn't have much time to get dinner going, so it's great that this has such a quick prep and cook time. I only used 1 package of crescents to make 4 puffs, so I scaled everything else back accordingly but used 1 chicken breast. There was a little too much chicken to fit into just 4 rolls, so I'll just heat that up and have it on crackers today. For convenience, I even used dried minced garlic instead of fresh, and frozen chopped onion because I was in a hurry.

PHILLY Bavarian Apple Torte

Outstanding. This rivals any dessert I've had from any bakery. The apples were a little crunchy, but were so tasty I ate them first, then enjoyed the cream cheese and crust combo by itself. The flavor of the crust reminds me of shortbread - YUM! This will be a favorite to keep, and maybe try with different fruit toppings. I think raspberry would be wonderful with the cream cheese layer.
