Grilled Bacon Jalapeno Wraps

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2011
WEAR GLOVES while working with the jalapenos!! You've been warned. And if you still didn't listen...use rubbing alcohol to help the burning to stop. Boiling the 'penos for 4 minutes definitely helped take the hotness out of them. Enjoy!

Quick Alfredo Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2011
This was VERY quick and fairly good in taste. Like the others said, it is a bit bland as the recipe stands, but could easily be kicked up in flavor with some extra spices. Next time I might add a little Cajun seasoning in mine. The kids loved it though! Thanks for saving my dinner tonight!

Chicken with Garlic, Basil, and Parsley

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2011
I have to give this five stars because my picky-picky eater hubby and daughter SCARFED this down. I did things a little different in preparing it though. I used Fiesta Party Dip mix instead of red peppers and instead of baking it, I sauteed in a frying pan. I put a Tbsp of butter in the pan, dropped in about a rounded tsp of minced garlic and half of the herb/salt mix. Spread it around in the pan and then layed my cut up chicken breast in the pan, covered and cooked for five minutes. Sprinkled the rest of the herb mix on top, flipped the chicken in the pan to brown the other side then transferred to a baking sheet. I then broiled the herbed chicken breast with shredded mozzerella/asiago cheese on top. Also instead of slice tomato, I put about a cup full of canned crushed tomatoes in the pan that I sauteed the chicken in and let that cook to get warm and slightly thickened and served a dollop of this tomato sauce on top of each piece of chicken. I served this over penne rosa and it was a big hit/definite keeper!

Easy Tomato Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2011
Yay! This was just what I was looking for - a simple, pure recipe. We are eating on a Daniel Fast and can only have pure veggies, no additives or sugar. So I used a can of Firey Diced tomatoes, skipped the puree, added some minced garlic, then blended the cooked ingredients to make a smoother sauce. Smells wonderful cooking and is tasty! Thanks!

Peanut Butter and Cream Brownies

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2011
This dessert is DELISH! It's also a snap to make! One bite and my whole family, in-laws included, were moaning in delight. It is a very rich dessert, so have a big glass of ice water or cup of coffee handy. This one is going in my personal favorites! I did use two smaller tubs of whip topping and used chocolate shavings on top. Yum!

Mama's Asian Chicken and Rice

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2011
This was SUPER easy to make and very tasty! I also doubled the sauce recipe, but did not use the cornstarch mix. Next time I won't use as much red pepper flake though. No worries on this recipe at all - give it a try!

Chicken and Peas with Pasta

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2010
I agree that this is a good base pasta recipe, but on it's own it's very bland. I added mesquite flavored chicken breast, onion salt and Parmesan cheese to the sauce. I also thickened the sauce with flour.

Chicken Lasagna with White Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2010
I really enjoy this recipe!! I did make changes though. While I like spinach, the rest of the family does not, so I sauteed minced fresh onion, a heaping tsp of minced garlic and two chopped carrots and used that in the place of the spinach. I also used two rounded tablespoons of pesto in the ricotta mixture AND used two mesquite marinated chicken breasts instead of plain. I too found the cheese/soup mixture too liquidy and only used one can of soup. Hope this helps!

Weeknight Pork Chops

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2010
These flavors did not mix well at all for us. I seasoned the chops and browned in a skillet, adding a little jam sauce as they browned. Once browned I added all the jam mixture into the pan with the chops, but it turned an unsavory greyish red color. None of us ate the chops and I won't be making them again. Sorry!!

Halloween Brain Dip

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2010
As far as presentation goes, it made a great presentation. HOWEVER, it was SO difficult to create. I couldn't cut the center deep enough to put all the dip in without the cauli falling apart (and it's too cumbersome to use toothpicks to pieces it together). And the fruit by the foot wouldn't stick to the cauli no matter how much I dried the cauli. I air dried it outside for ten minutes and then it was still wet, so I used my blowdryer, but that seemed to heat it up and make more moisture. I was able to get about four strings put on it with TOO MUCH effort and gave up. I will not make this again. Only try this if you have a lot of time on your hands and want a challenge. Super presentation though if you can hack it! :)

Beer Batter

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2010
This was my first time battering anything! I really love french fried veggies from the festivals and so I came looking for a batter to make them for myself. This was PERFECT! It was very light and crunchy and not at all too heavy for bell peppers or onion rings. I battered broccoli, cauli, onion rings, bell pepper rings and shrimp...and they all turned out perfectly. I did at a little more salt, but still feel like I could have kicked it up a notch. Maybe try adding some Cajun or other spices to it. I will use this again for sure!!

Ragu® No Boiling Lasagna

I also use a pound of ground turkey seasoned with S&P, Italian seasoning and a heaping teaspoon of minced garlic. I substituted ricotta with cottage cheese for the same reasons as the previous rater. Yummy!

Heavenly White Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2009
This cake recipe is a little labor intensive, but completely worth the effort! I've never made a "from scratch" cake before and even with my first time I found it to be pretty easy. I lowered the yield recipe to make a trial cake, sifted the dry ingredients a few times and FOLDED in the soft peaked eggs. The result was a seriously fluffy and moist cake. In fact, a piece of this cake was left out overnight and it was STILL soft and moist in the morning. The taste was just so-so, but I left out the almond flavor b/c I didn't have any on hand. I am definitely going to make the full yield recipe for my daughter's bday party tomorrow. Finding an awesome icing to top this cake is going to be my biggest challenge. ENJOY!

Strawberry Jam

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2009
This recipe is SUPER easy and SUPER yummy. One batch, for me, filled three small jelly jars. The first time I made a batch I didn't have lemon juice, so I used lime juice and it was just as good, so FYI. :) Enjoy and share!!

Godiva Chocolate Martini

Pretty good little drink! I advise you have the ingredients cold and add a little skim milk. Otherwise it feels like thick room temp chocolate milk.

I followed the recipe to the letter and this cake was very bland. I may as well have been chewing on my dishtowel. The icing is definite keeper though.

Laura's Unbelievable Chicken and Pasta

A very good recipe! We'll definitely use this one often. We changed it up a little though bc we thought it was a little bland. We used green peppers instead of spinach and added two teaspoons of cajun seasoning. Very good though!

Spinach Cheese Bake

This smells divine while baking, but overall it lacks flavor. IF I made it again, I'd use less spinach and more spices.
