Boilermaker Tailgate Chili

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2011
I've never been much of a chili fan, but I CRAVE this stuff now. Having made it several times, with or without various ingredients, I believe the heart of the flavor lies in the spices and the sausage. We've gone without the veggies, or less tomatoes, no sausage, etc., depending on what was on hand. Another fun way to enjoy is to use as a dip for tortilla chips.

Perfect Sesame Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2011
My family really liked this recipe. I've never tried making chicken like this before, and it was a first-time success! Even without the sauce the chicken is tasty and addicting. My husband isn't a fan of sesame oil, so the sauce was a bit too much for him. I made this a second time, but substituted the sesame oil in the sauce with a balsamic vinegar, and it made the sauce a bit more like sweet and sour, which tasted just fine.

Easy to make, easy to bake, and not so easy to keep any around.

Campbell's Kitchen Beef Teriyaki

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2010
I used plain water (didn't have broth), and it turned out just fine. Didn't quite have the kick that take-out does, but it's simple enough to add your own spices to taste to make it great. Also, my husband doesn't like soysauce, so I told him to sprinkle some brown sugar over the rice, before putting the beef and broccoli on it, and he was impressed with the difference that makes to balance the sauce out.

Ultimate Pasta

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2010
This dish was very simple and tasty enough. I used shredded colby jack because that's what I had on hand, so I had to double the milk to keep the sauce from turning into paste. Definitely had to add plenty of salt and pepper to taste, and I added some veggies to give it a healthy kick. Would make again anytime.

Carrot Cookies II

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2009
I made these cookies with the pulp leftover from juicing some carrots. I made them as an experiment to see if my kids would eat a cookie with a veggie in it. Of course, I didn't tell them what the orange piecies were till they tried it. They LOVED them, and I had to make more the next day. Even my 14yr old niece wanted seconds.

Roasted Easter Ham

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2009
This ham turned out very well, considering it was my first time baking a ham!!! I thought the mustard was a little strong, but mixed with the maple syrup it help counteract the bitter with the sweet. Definitely will try it again.

The Best Meatloaf

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2009
This meatloaf was delicious! I don't really like ketchup, so the steak sauce (we used A1) was a tasty alternative. We didn't have onions or peppers on hand, and used pre-seasoned stuffing breadcrumbs without softening them. Very juicy, tasty, and not a crumb was left!

Christmas Breakfast Casserole

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2009
My grandmother has been making this casserole every Christmas morning for as long as I can remember. Best breakfast I've ever had. My husband, who doesn't like eggs, will even eat this with a little salsa on top. I try to switch up what meat goes in it (ham, sausage, bacon), or add a veggie (broccoli).

Blueberry Waffles with Fast Blueberry Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2009
the waffles themselves (without blueberries) tasted great. i prefer without, or maybe dice the bluberries before mixing with the batter. for the sauce i used maple syrup because we didnt have honey and it still had a rich flavor and consistency. same deal with the bluberries, though. my kids liked it but wouldnt eat the whole berries.
