Mandarin Chicken Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2007
A wonderful summer salad! A light and healthy salad which stands on its own without the need for anything else on the side. The dressing has a wonderful flavor although once it's mixed in with all of the vegetables it becomes very mild which is not necessarily a bad thing. Delicious & fresh!

Mini Cheesecakes

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2012
These were really good! One of the better mini cheesecake recipes I've tried. I made the standard cupcake size and it made about 16-18 of them. I made a double batch for two back to back Thanksgiving dinners and they were a big hit at both!

Irish Cream Bundt Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2007
Absolutely delicious! The glaze makes the outside of this cake a little bit crunchy and really soaks in well. The only thing I'd warn about is to make sure that you spray as well as flour the pan before pouring in the mix. The Flour is a crucial step to the success an in tact bundt once you turn it out onto a platter! I discovered this the hard way!

Hungarian Mushroom Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2015
This is an incredible recipe. I took previous advice and cut the parsley back to 1/8 cup and it was perfect; additionally I added 5 slices of cooked, chopped bacon and 1/2 tsp of red chili flakes. I cooked up the soup and treated it more like a curry by putting it over white rice & a piece of tilapia pan fried in oil, more onion, parsley, garlic & lemon. It was fantastic & my fish-disliking husband loved it too! I attribute that to the wonderful soup base. Fantastic soup!

Big Ed's Cajun Shrimp Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2015
This is a GREAT & EASY recipe that you can whip up in 30 minutes for a quick, delicious lunch! I have a recipe for seafood Cajun Jambalaya that my family has been making for years...it takes about 1.5 hrs to make from roux to finish. This is an awesome alternative! The flavors could use a little more development since it's not a roux base so if I make it again, I'll add some finely chopped andouille sausage to give it a much needed smoky punch. I have given it 5 STARS because it's SO EASY TO MAKE and turns out wonderfully just as the recipe calls for.

Bratwurst Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2014
This one's made it to my permanent cookbook. I cooked it just as the recipe calls for and it turned out wonderfully! This makes a TON of soup - like 10-15 servings. You may want to cut it back if you aren't interested in freezing.

Rusty Chicken Thighs

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2014
Love this recipe! So easy and it's delicious without the hours of marinating. I'll toss this into my chicken and let it sit for 30 minutes then throw it on the BBQ, comes out great every time! A highly forgiving recipe that's great on all types of chicken!

Adrienne's Cucumber Salad

Reviewed: May 20, 2007
A cool and refreshing side dish! The main thing I would suggest is changing the vinegar. I'm not a huge fan of white vinegar - too much acid - and opted for rice vinegar which has a much more pleasant taste. I used 3 cucumbers, purple onion instead of red and used only a 1/2 cup of sugar. One suggestion for making the slicing of the cucumbers easier - use a potato pealer. It goes a lot faster that way and the slices are consistently thin!

Mom's Sticky Chicken From 1972

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2013
This recipe was very sweet. We're not big fans of sweet with our meat and were not expecting that at all. If I were a fan of Chinese takeout then this would far exceed that which is why I gave it the 3 stars.

Restaurant Style Beef and Broccoli

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2013
This recipe was really good. The sauce was really savory but not too sticky or heavy. The sauce was really addictive and justified several trips back to the kitchen to pick pieces out of the pan after dinner was done.

Pasta Fagioli

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2013
I had to add more seasoning to this recipe; as it sat it was just a little too bland for my kids to really enjoy. I added Italian seasoning, a good dose of salt & pepper, fresh rosemary and tyme. I also added beef & Italian sausage since we're such meat eaters in our house. With the additions, it came out wonderfully and made it to my permanent recipe box.

Albondigas

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2013
Incredible recipe! Mine turned out a little hot due to the salsa I used but that's my fault for not testing it out before dumping the whole container in. I added a teasp each of cumin, oregano, a couple pinches of paprika, corriander because I just love those mexican flavors in my soups. I printed this one out and added it to my home recipe book.

Slow-Cooker Posole

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2012
I made this recipe as recommended and it turned out fabulously! Not too much water at all. I am sure it depends on how much meat you put it and I think I was a little heavy no the meat. It's so simple but much better than a lot of the americanized pozole you find in the aericanized mexican restaurants! Love it!

Good New Orleans Creole Gumbo

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2012
The is the absoluely best Gumbo I've ever had! I love Gumbo and order it in restaurants quite frequently. This recipe definitely tops any restaurant Gumbo I've ordered. There's plenty of meat and a rich, delicious flavor. I substituted the crab with chicken because a local restauranteur serves it with chicken instead of crab and it's quite good. It turned out superb with the chicken! I grilled three chicken breasts, chopped them up and threw them into the roux with the sausage to soak up the flavor...besides that, I refuse to cook with immitation crab and let's face it...crab's not getting any cheaper these days. An amazing recipe well worth the effort!

Boilermaker Tailgate Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2009
The best home-made chili I've ever had!!! I thought that this would be too hot from the sounds of the ingredients but it is the perfect combination without too much heat - if my kids are sharing it, I just leave out all of the chili powders and they love it. This is a great recipe that's definitely a favorite!

Cranberry Nut Granola Bars

Reviewed: May 11, 2015
This is a great recipe because of how versatile it is. These turn out wonderfully with the ingredients the recipe calls for but you can really throw whatever you have in your cabinets into the mix and they still come out great! I like to melt peanut butter - just a couple of table spoons - in the microwave and drizzle it on top before baking. Taking into consideration how much a box of granola bars costs in the grocery vs. how much it costs if you buy everything bulk and make these, this is a winner every time. This has become one of my favorite recipes!

Black Bottom Cupcakes I

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2012
We just weren't crazy about these. They were a bit on the dry side. Despite the chocolate chips, my kids wouldn't touch them after one taste which was disappointing. They were much better warm than they were the next day but even then they just didn't have a whole lot of taste.

Millie Pasquinelli's Fried Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2012
Love this recipe! I often have problems with chicken burning on the outside before the inside is cooked. This recipe turns out perfectly without having to finish off in the oven to cook it thoroughally. The flavor is wonderful on the crust and it turned out wonderfully crispy. My husband loved this recipe - definitely adding it to my recipe book!
