About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake. I can cook just about anything as long as I have a recipe and directions, but I'm not good at creating my own dishes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Like most families, every Thanksgiving and Christmas we make a HUGE dinner for all our family and friends. I havn't really been apart of that tradition until the last couple of years. Because most of my family seems to pretty health conscious, we never really had that great of desserts, so I stepped up to the plate. Now I always make the desserts for major holidays.
My cooking triumphs
Thanksgiving of 2006 I made a Pumpkin Cheesecake that turned out PERFECTLY. No cracks, no sinking, just perfect. I was quite proud of myself.
My cooking tragedies
I've burned, over seasoned, dropped, and just straight out messed up meals... I'm more of a baker than a cook.

Sam's Famous Carrot Cake
The first time I made this recipe I followed it exactly. I got rave reviews for it. The second time I made this cake I made some adjustments: -I used dried cranberries instead of raisins. The tartness of the cranberries really complimented how sweet this cake is. I added double vanilla, double cinnamon, a pinch of clove and and pinch of nutmeg. The second cake was made for an office party and everyone went crazy over it! The second cake had more enthusiastic feedback. Also, this cake is significantly better the next day.

Pumpkin Roll
I followed this recipe exactly and it turned out great! Everybody wanted this recipe after I made it for Thanksgiving last year. I'll be making it again and will be a traditional dish at our house!

Cindy's Pumpkin Pie
Absolutely amazing! I don't care for pumpkin pie, but I LOVED this one! Taking another reviewers suggestion, I melted the ice cream in the microwave until luke warm. I only used two cups of the melted ice cream. Also, I don't know if my measurements were off, but my two pies came out very thin. Next time I'm going to double the recipe, and make 3 pies out of it instead of 4. I highly recommend this recipe! Went over great @ Thanksgiving and will be making it again for Christmas.
