Peach Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2012
My first time baking this and I did exactly as recipe stated - I also left in the oven as it cooled as some others suggested. BUT, although the flavor was really good and it looked beautiful, it was still too "soupy" for my liking. Next time I will add 2 Tbsp. of corn starch to help combat the problem and still leave in the cooling oven. I will use this recipe again as it was simple and tasty.

Black Magic Cake

Very moist and so easy! Was done after 30 minutes. I iced with the "fluffy seven-minute frosting" from this site and it was a roaring success!

Fluffy Seven-Minute Frosting

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2012
Made it just as directed and WOW! I was so impressed by this recipe - I've never had good luck with homemade frostings before and this one perfect! - Not too sweet, fluffy, and picture perfect! Will use this again and again... Only I was sad that this recipe made so much, I iced a double layer 9" cake and could have easily iced another. It was a shame to throw away the extra after it came out so splendidly.

Banana Coconut Loaf

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2012
lovely! Had to take it out of oven about 15 minutes early though. It was starting to get a little too browned for my Family's taste... Other than that excellent. Will make again

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2012
Wonderful aroma while it cooked AND so easy AND tasty! I heeded the advice of another reviewer and lightly floured and browned sides of roast for about 3 minutes on each side, then everything else as instructed. EASY and DELICIOUS. Will be adding this into my rotation of crock-pot meals. Thank you for sharing

Irish Cream Bundt Cake

Reviewed: May 21, 2011
YUMMY! Absolutely delicious! After his second bite my husband was already declaring this, the best dessert I've ever made. (he doesn't need to know a box mix was involved!) Very simple - I followed the directions exactly except used chocolate pudding. Also, I only needed about 1/2 the glaze. And thank you to the reviewers who suggested letting the cake sit back in the pan to absorb. - that was the PERFECT way to get it to soak in! I will make this next time we have company for sure!

Savory Chicken Breasts

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2010
The first time I made it, I thought, "Good, but could use a few added enhancements". - The second time I made it, I used Mrs Dash, and I pounded the chicken first to avoid it being dry. Also added a fresh clove of chopped garlic and a handful of chopped mushrooms before adding the cream of chicken soup. I also added a 1/4 c. water to the soup mix. I used panko bread crumbs and thought they were tasty :) Overall, a great basic recipe! Thanks

No Cook Icing

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2010
Very easy. This was my first time making an icing with cream of tarter... and despite any worries, this came out fabulous, light and fluffy. I heeded the advice of others and mixed everything first in my standup mixer then added the boiling water. Took about 7 minutes on med-high speed. Light and pretty for my peach coconut cake. Thanks for posting this recipe!

Blackberry Cobbler II

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2010
So good! Hands down the best cobbler I've ever had... I had slightly sweet blackberries so I reduced the sugar by 1/2. ** It could be 6 stars with a little vanilla and cinnamon added "to taste" to the dough and/or fruit mixture.

Healthy Banana Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2009
These cookies were good, but need a few additions. This is a good base recipe to begin with and get creative. I did the following- 1) Added cinnamon, as suggested by so many reviewers - it's a must. 2) I added coconut flakes to half the batch and compared with/without. (1/4 cup) I think it is a lovely addition! 3) A little honey helps too. (2tbsp) * tip* these were very sticky and even though I used parchment paper, they still stuck to it. I found the key was to move to a cooling rack immediately after removing from oven. With the few additions, they've become a crowd pleaser in my home. Thanks for sharing!

Cream Puffs

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2009
I have made these several times and have gotten better with each time. Ive also learned that any leftover puffs make great little sandwiches stuffed with tuna or chicken salad! A few tips I've learned, 1)Yes you must poke a hole and let them dry out completely or else they will collapse! 2)Adding 1 tbsp. vanilla or rum extract to the filling and/or the dough mixture improves and impresses. 3)Definitely put a piece of parchment paper on your cookie sheet and prevent sticking or spraying the pan. 4) Use a pastry bag to fill in through that hole you poked, easy and pretty! 5) After moving your dough ball into the mixing bowl, let it cool for 10 minutes before adding eggs (also better if they are room temp). After experimenting with the amount off eggs, I liked best, 3 whole eggs + 1 egg white. 6) Dusting with powdered sugar is a quick way to give them a "ta-dah" look. These are just so yummy and you can get very creative with the filling-They've become a favorite in our home.

Chicken Piccata with Artichoke Hearts

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2009
What a very yummy dish! I did increase the wine to 1 cup and upped the garlic from 1 to 4 cloves (couldn't imagine it with less really, may up it even). Other than that, everything as written. The leftovers were great the next day. I have made this dish twice now and both times it was a crowd pleaser.

Salmon Hash With Potatoes & Dill

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2009
My husband scarfed this down - he is a big salmon fan. I thought it was good (but will change a few things next time) and will serve it to family for brunch next weekend. I will reduce the oil as someone else has suggested, and maybe add some diced tomatoes (personal preference- I put them on almost everything) *I would definitely recommend adding the salmon when the onions are just about done. Great alternative to corned beef hash :)

Nectarine Pie

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2009
This is not my first attempt at nectarine pie... I created my own version years ago and never thought to look for an alternative. But when I saw this, I had to try it! Sounded so yummy and had great reviews - but for some reason mine was much too gooey even after I baked it for 1 hour. I anticipated it being a little too wet and initially added an extra 2 Tbsp flour, not really enough to counteract all that cream though! (And my nectarines were not even that juicy) Next time I will just try to reduce the amount of cream by 1/2. hopefully that will help. The taste is good, but in the future, I will add add additional cinnamon, nutmeg and increase the almond extract slightly. With some tweaks it will probably get a second chance in our kitchen.

Fish Fillets Italiano

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2008
I think as written, I'd rate this 4 stars. It's a great starting point to add and tweak to your palate. This has become a favorite on my house with the following changes: Add 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning and a pinch of dill. I reduce the wine to 1/4 cup and add 1/2 cup of chicken broth. I sprinkle garlic salt on the fish and bake @ 375 (for 5-10 minutes depending on thickness). Pour sauce over fish and rice with a wedge of lemon. Yummy!
