About this Cook
Food seems to be a source of comfort to many folks in this time of economic hardship. How to maintain the comfort of home and cook healthy meals with the ever-rising costs is a real challenge. While I am a long-time cook, my cooking style is quite simple. Adventurous, I am not. I enjoy cooking and sharing meals with my friends and loved ones.
My favorite things to cook
For health reasons for both myself and my boyfriend, I try to find low sodium, low fat foods that are tasty, and therefore enjoyable. I am learning to enjoy home made soups, since this is how I get the cooked vegitibles I don't like.
My cooking triumphs
Chicken and Dummplings and a delicious roast, both in a slow cooker. A delicious lasagna and wonderful ribs. A cake my boyfriend and I made together that I found on this site. It was the most beautiful, delicious cake I've ever made. We talk about that today, and we made it when we were first going out together, almost four years ago.
My cooking tragedies
I tried some brownies from a mix. They were so simple, and came out absolutely horrible! I made one of the noodles in butter sauce Sides-To-Go when they changed from the original company. It tasted like glue, and had the same consistency. I haven't bought them since.

Seven-Up(TM) Mud, Fruit Slide Cake
If I did this right, (I'm blind and using a screen reader) I've rated this recipe five stars. I made this cake for a memorial service that was held at my church. It went together in a snap. It was so moist, it didn't need a glaze. I followed the directions exactly, and got a delicious cake I don't feel needs any modifications.
