About this Cook
I am retired Air Force and have been stationed all over. I have had the opportunity to experience European and Asian cooking. I also cook Southern, Mexican and good ole American dishes, as well as my forte, baking.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook "special requests", which includes baked maccroni and cheese, slow cooked baked beans, pineapple upside down cake, German chocolate cake, pumpkin cake and banana pudding.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Learning to cook by watching my Mom do it for years. Once I had a family I figured it out.
My cooking triumphs
Mastering home made pie crust. Making real gravey.
My cooking tragedies
In High school, the teacher changed the name to Home "Wreck" and advised me to do something that did not involve homemaking. Imagine that, I grew up to be a technician and a great cook as well. So nah nah to her!!! =)

Sweet Potato Casserole II
I made this for a Veterans luncheon and it was really good. I acidentially put the cup of brown sugar into the potatoes (whoops) but it didn't affect them at all. It needed to bake for 40 minutes to get brown in my oven, but a good dish. Thanks for sharing... "G"

Marshmallow Treats
The real secret to perfect krispie treats is to only use real butter with the krispies and marshmallows. And as others stated, cook on low heat, stir constantly. Also, use butter in your spreading pan and on the spatula that you mash them down with. NEVER use cooking spray as this will make them sticky and they will fall apart when cut and picked up. For a change, make them using fruity pebles, my family loves them.

Banana Banana Bread
This bread is very good if you are looking for one that is more like cake. Make sure you bake it for 65 minutes as mine cake tested done at 60 minutes at 350 and it was doughy in the middle.
