Zucchini Bread IV

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2002
Super zucchini bread recipe! I had lost my old recipe, so decided to try this one. I'm glad I did. I've made 4 loaves and everyone has loved it.

Ultimate Maple Snickerdoodles

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2004
My family loved these cookies. They're very easy to make also. I'll make them again, but with a couple changes. I would like to have had more maple flavor, so I'll change the proportions of the sugar/maple sugar mixture. I also had quite a bit of the sugar mixture left over, so I think 1/4 cup of each is plenty. I also think I'll cut back a little on the cinnamon to bring out more of the maple taste. It's a great recipe as written. The texture is perfect and the taste was a hit at my house. I would just like to experiment with it next time so we can taste the maple flavor more.

Grilled Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2004
This was the first time I had ever grilled a pork tenderloin or used the indirect heat method. My husband and I both loved the results. The pork stayed nice and moist and the taste was great. This one's a keeper for me.

Pumpkin Gingerbread

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2010
Absolutely 5 stars!! I had planned to bake gingerbread for my Christmas get-together. The recipe I had called for cake flour and I had none. So, I started looking for another recipe. When I ran across this one and read the reviews, I thought I'd give it a try. I followed the recipe exactly as written, but prepared it in a 9 X 13 pan. About half way through baking, I topped it with a mixture of butter, brown sugar, flour, and chopped pecans (from my other gingerbread recipe). It took about an hour to bake. Oh my goodness....is this ever delicious! The pumpkin and spices smelled so good and the taste is perfect. It is very moist also. I like the addition of the crunchy topping, but this bread would be delicious plain, or with added nuts.

Rosemary Cheese Crusted Potatoes

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2010
I served this dish for Christmas dinner, and it was a huge hit. Everyone raved about it. I made it exactly as written, except for the lemon rind because I didn't have any, and it was absolutely delicious. The rosemary in the crusty topping adds a nice touch. I don't like cheesy potato dishes that are swimming in melted gooey cheese sauce. This has just the right amount of cheese. I'm saving this one and will make it often!

Chocolate Zucchini Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2004
A 5-star recipe! Cookies and chocolate are my greatest weaknesses, so this recipe has it all. I've been trying several new zucchini recipes lately to use up the seemingly never-ending supply coming out of my garden this year. These cookies are so moist and delicious. Mine puffed up nicely while baking and have a cake-like texture. The only thing I added was some chopped pecans. GREAT!

Spinach Deviled Eggs

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2003
This recipe was great! I took them to a family get-together and they were all gobbled up. Several asked for the recipe. My family is very open to trying new things though. The eggs look so nice with the spinach and bacon and the flavors go together very well. I'll be using this recipe again.

Pumpkin Cookies VI

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2003
Excellent! Very easy and delicious. I had to bake for about 12 minutes on my air-bake cookie sheet. I used raisins and added some chopped nuts, and a dash each of nutmeg, cloves, and ginger. I'm sure I'll be baking these again soon.

Winter Fruit Salad with Lemon Poppyseed Dressing

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2010
Very good salad. I served this with our Christmas dinner, and everyone loved it. The dressing is wonderful. I used a combination of Romaine lettuce and baby spinach, and changed the nuts to walnuts. I know I'll make the dressing a lot. It would be good on any salad mixture.

Brownie Mix in a Jar II

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2003
I made these up and gave several as Christmas gifts. I simplified and just mixed everything together and put in the jars because I just couldn't get them to look nice when I layered the ingredients. I added a homespun jar topper and tied the instructions on with jute, and they looked great. But, the most important thing is everyone says they're the best brownies they've ever eaten!

Dog Treats I

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2002
These were very easy to make. My dog seemed to really like them, but then, he'll eat anything. I'll continue to make them for him because I like the idea of giving him home made treats.

Holiday Cranberry Chutney

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2010
Delicious! I made this to serve over cream cheese with crackers. I made it as written, and it was very good. But I thought a little heat with the sweet would be interesting, so I added about 3/4 tsp. of crushed red pepper flakes. My family loved it. It also was a great condiment for our roast pork loin. Delicious!

Smooth Sweet Tea

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2012
This method really does make the best sweet tea. The only thing I needed to do differently is use a couple more tea bags, but that's just my personal preference. I like my tea strong and sweet. It came out perfect....clear, never got cloudy; and no bitter aftertaste. I've also tried it with loose black tea leaves, and it was also very good. I used 2 heaping tablespoons of tea leaves. I'll never use the ice tea maker again. This is so much better and just as easy! Thanks!

Satiny Chocolate Glaze

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2010
Very easy and very good. I also made mine in the microwave, checking and stirring after 30 seconds, then again at two 10-second intervals. It was done in less than a minute. The texture was perfect for topping my chocolate pound cake, perfectly draping the sides. It made an ordinary cake look kind of elegant!

Oatmeal Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2002
These cookies are absolutely wonderful. I've made them twice now. They are soft and chewy, just the way we like them. I like to use old-fashioned oats for the texture. I also added 6 oz. milk chocolate chips and they're great. Everyone that has eaten them raves about them. Thanks for the recipe.

Sweet and Sour Sauce I

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2002
This was basically very good and easy. I had everything on hand to make it. However, I too, thought the soy sauce was just a little overpowering, so next time I'll cut back a little on that. I also added some pineapple juice, and it tasted great. I'll make this again.

Fruitcake

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2001
I thought this was the best fruitcake I've eaten. I was specifically looking for a recipe that called for real dried fruit, no candied stuff. My daughter-in-law and I made 3 of them a month ago. We waited a month to eat any. It is so moist and very spicey. I brushed on a little brandy every other day for about the first 10 days after baking, then just left it wrapped. Even family members who questioned why we would make a fruitcake liked this one. Wonderful!

Dried Beef Cheese Ball

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2001
I've been using this same recipe for years. It's always a hit at gatherings. I don't use the monosodium glutanate, and sometimes I add a little garlic salt instead of onion salt. Either way, it's very good.

Sweet and Gooey Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2001
These were really very good. I let mine marinade for about 6 hours. They were so tender and juicy, and tasted great. My guests and husband loved them. The only low rating I gave them was quickness. They're very easy, but they took almost 2 hours to bake and get nice and brown. Well worth the wait though. I'll use this recipe again.

Hot Buttered Rum Batter

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2001
OH MY GOD, this is delicious!!! I like using more of the batter per cup though. I used equal amounts of rum and batter, then filled the cup with the boiling water. YUMMY!
