Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2011
I was very unsure about this recipe. When people say "chewy" many times they mean "cake-like". I can't stand cake-like cookies, so I took a chance with this one! I'm glad I did! I halved the recipe, as I didn't have enough ingredients for the full batch. I only had chocolate pudding in a 4oz package, so I added a little less than the full box. These are very good, and soft...but not cake-like, in my opinion! Thanks so much for posting this recipe!!

Judy's Strawberry Pretzel Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2010
This is excellent! I followed the directions exactly and it turned out well. Another reviewer suggested making more of the jello layer, but I love how the cream cheese layer is thick and the jello compliments it. Everyone loved it at our Thanksgiving meal yesterday!

Pumpkin Fudge

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2010
I was worried about this recipe with so many people rating it only 1 star. If I had followed the directions exactly it would not have turned out at all. I used a candy thermometer and to get to the right temp, it took closer to 25 min of boiling. I couldn't believe that the chocolate chips didn't melt all the way. Next time I may have them partially melted before hand. Because I had to mix the chips in so long, I think perhaps the fudge wasn't as smooth as it could have been. I will try this again. Not a difficult recipe, but I had to tweak it just a bit. NOTE: I tried these again and the results were just as bad. Hard, crumbly fudge. I tried melting the chocolate chips ahead of time, but I was still left with bits of chocolate I could not mix in. Very frustrating! For those of you who made this without a problem, that's great, but it IS a fact that you can follow the recipe exactly and still end up with bad results. It is not a given that a mistake was made.

Pumpkin Spice Cookie

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2010
As written, these are fair. I didn't have spice cake, but I added a couple teaspoons of pumpkin pie spice and cinnamon to a vanilla cake mix. After they cooled, I topped them with some melted white chocolate and THAT made them very good! I buy the bags of melting chocolate from Hobby Lobby. It's candymaker brand. Anytime a recipe calls for melted chocolate for dipping I always use that. Melted chocolate chips can't compare!

Jay's Signature Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2010
Wow! This is wonderful!! I made this in my Kitchen Aid mixer and let it do the kneeding...not adding too much flour. I made the mistake of doubling the batch. We always like to eat left over pizza for a few days, so I wanted to make sure we had enough. I only made 2 pizzas, and did not divide it in half equally, so one pizza had a VERY thick crust. But it was still so yummy!! Nice crispy bottom with tender center! I've never had a homemade crust that tasted like a restaurant pizza! I substituted 1 cup of whole wheat flour, and will experiment with more whole wheat. This would be great to impress guests with! Thanks so much for sharing!

Brooke's Best Bombshell Brownies

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2010
I made these according to the recipe and I thought they were pretty bad. I don't know why, but the flavor was not good at all. I only had a couple bites, and that was all I could eat. I know so many people loved these. It's all a matter of personal taste I guess!

Oat Applesauce Muffins

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2010
With the changes I made I think these were great. I added cinnamon and vanilla, as well as a bit of extra chunky (sugar-free) applesauce. Also, these only baked about 10 minutes. At 30 minutes they would have been completely burned!

Donut Muffins

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2010
These are very good. I only added 1/2 t. nutmeg as others suggested. It would have been too strong if I had added the full amount. I did not dip them in butter after they cooked...only the cinnamon and sugar. I love how the bottoms and edges had a crispy texture. Like another reviewer said, they really taste nothing like donuts. But they are very yummy mini muffins! In fact, I plan on giving some in baskets at Christmas! Thanks for sharing!

The Best Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2010
Very good. I had a little over 2 cups of smashed bananas, so I added it all. Also, I substituted 1/2 of the butter with sugar free applesauce. Last change was using 1/2 whole wheat flour and a dash of vanilla. This makes it a bit healthier, but very good. I baked it 65 minutes, but found some uncooked spots.

Sugar Cookies IV

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2010
These are exactly what I am looking for! I searched and searched for a crispy sugar cookie recipe, and I found it! The only change I made was minor, and that was that I omitted the almond extract and used vanilla instead (I love vanilla). I didn't want to roll them out, so I skipped the chilling part and rolled my cookie balls (like you make for chocolate chip cookies) in granulated sugar and flattened them with the bottom of a cup dipped in sugar. In order for these to be truly crispy, you must bake them till they are a nice golden brown on the bottom and edges. Otherwise they will be soft. The sugar makes them so sparkly and pretty! Oh, and these don't need any frosting at all, which is what I love about them! Thanks so much for sharing!!

Peanut Butter Chip Chocolate Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2010
These are very good. I followed the recipe exactly as written, although I only made 1/2 a batch since I didn't have enough butter for more. I used a cookie scoop and got over 24 from half a batch! I would make these again, and wouldn't change a thing!

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2010
I was so hoping to be able to give this 5 stars, with all the great reviews. I thought the texture of the cookie was very good. Chewy in the middle, crispy edges. However, the flavor, to me, was lacking. It had a lot of vanilla in it, so I'm not sure what is missing. I'll have to keep looking for that "perfect" chocolate chip cookie. Thanks for sharing.

Broccoli Cheese Soup III

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2010
I made this soup with slight changes. I didn't want to mess with the corn starch, so I skipped that and the water. Instead, I put the tender broccoli in the blender. That way my soup is thicker and I won't have my childrne picking out the broccoli. I only had 2 cups chicken broth so I used water and bullion cubes in place of the rest of the chicken broth. I thought the cream of celery soup that is added is much of the flavor. However, I love cream of celery, so all in all I'm happy with this recipe. It is still on the stove...waiting for the rest of the cheese to melt. I may add some instant potato flakes to make it thicker if it seems to thin. Thanks for sharing!

Whole Wheat Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2010
I followed other's suggestions and these turned out wonderful! I used 1 1/2 c. whole wheat flour and 1/2 c. old fashioned oatmeal. Also sprinkled in some cinnamon and a dash of vanilla. Moist and yummy! I am making another batch now, and plan on substituting half of the oil with unsweetened applesauce. Thanks for the recipe! This is a good muffin recipe that doesn't have a million calories! - After making these with applesauce instead of some of the oil, I'd have to say they're not as good! I may try again but only substitute 1/4 of it.

Easy OREO Truffles

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2009
These are AMAZING!!! I made these last year at Christmas, and sprinkled them with red and green sprinkles. I plan on making more this year and giving them away as gifts. I also like to use the milk chocolate melting chocolate you can get at Hobby Lobby. Last year I made them too big, thinking my cookie scoop would be too small. They are SOOO rich that I will make them smaller this year! Yummmmm!! Thank you, thank you for sharing this recipe!!

Marshmallow Fondant

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2009
I was nervous to try my first fondant, but this was a pretty easy recipe. After reading up on fondant I kept hearing how difficult it was! If you can make cut out cookies, you can do this! I mixed it by hand, as another reviewer sugesting (I didn't want to mess with geting out my big mixer). Next time I will use the mixer, as it was a very messy job and probably took longer that way. I also used crisco instead of butter, as I had extra I needed to use. I mixed in the food coloring after it was finished, and had to constantly put more shortning on my hands to keep it from sticking. I also sprinkled the table with corn startch when I rolled it out. All in all, it was very easy. Had no trouble with it breaking or tearing. Oh, I also had to add extra powdered sugar. About a handful more. However, I didn't have the exact amount of marshmellows. I had two 10 oz bags, so I guessed at what 16 oz was. It's not too tricky a recipe, as it turned out fine even with my marshmellow problem! I will be making this again! Thanks for sharing!

Southern Peach Cobbler

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2009
I didn't care for this recipe at all. I followed the directions, but perhaps I did something wrong. I found it to be very wet and runny! Also, there wasn't nearly enough "crust". I like a lot more crust and this was pretty thin. I'll have to keep looking for a cobbler recipe that I like better.

Lemon Blueberry Bread

Reviewed: May 1, 2009
I was really excited to try this recipe, but was dissapointed. I didn't have any lemons, so I didn't add the zest. I was hoping it would be more like a banana bread, but it tasted like cake. I will keep searching for a more "bread-like" recipe. It tasted good...just not what I was looking for.
