Carol's Butter Pecan Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2010
Lovely cake! I reduced the recipe to "ten servings" (to make it just two layers instead of three). Also, I used half walnuts and that was just fine. It was elegant yet simple and impressed my friends!

Erica's Delicious Slow Cooker Beef Roast

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2007
This makes a great roast! My first time doing a slow cooker roast and it was indeed very tender. I think 7 hours would have been just about right, but we cooked it for 8. I added more herbs, like marjoram, bay leaves and Montreal Steak seasoning. The only reason this isn't a 5 star recipe is that my husband thought the mushroom soup flavor sort of took away from the beef, so he doesn't really want to do it again. I, however, loved it!

Apple Hermits

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2007
Yummy! I was happy to find a recipe to help me use up some apples and raisins without oats (I ran out.) I didn't have nuts to use, but I will use them next time. They still were great without the nuts. I think I may cut 1/2 cup of sugar next time, too, because they were quite sweet. I didn't make the icing for that reason. I used 1/2 whole wheat flour, too. Thanks for a good recipe!

Chicken Salad Pockets

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2007
Great recipe! I needed something I could prepare earlier in the day to serve at dinner time. I served with Peppy's Pita bread, also from this site. Recipe is great as is, but I made the following adjustments to preference: omitted onions (I don't like 'em), used fresh basil from my garden and added 1/8 tsp. salt to the dressing. Also, I boiled the chicken in broth before cubing (and I used 2 chicken breasts.) Yum! I'll make again.

Brooke's Best Bombshell Brownies

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2007
I finally found the brownie recipe I was looking for! Perfectly chewy, not at all cake-like and full of chocolatey goodness. I followed the advice of others and used half white sugar and half brown. So good!

Oh my goodness...these are fantastic! Perfect for the chocolate addicts that my husband and I are. I too added about 1/2 tsp. salt. Yum!

Zesty Chipotle Lime Dip

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2007
This was so tasty! We served it with tortilla chips and veggies. I think it would be great to mix with refried beans, cheese, avocado, etc. as a layered dip. I used Chipotle hot sauce, but only used 1 tsp. and it had a great flavor.

Soft and Chewy Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2007
Oh my goodness! These are definitely yummy and chewy. I would suggest letting them rest for 1 minute on cookie sheet before removing. Mine were so soft that I sort of squished the edges of the first few by removing them too soon. Excellent recipe!

Rosemary French Bread

Reviewed: May 24, 2007
This was my second time making this recipe. The first time was delicious, but very small. The last time I made it it barely rose at all and was way too dense and rock hard on the outside. My mother-in-law suggested that the fresh garlic might affect the rising...I'm bummed because it's such tasty bread and stumped because of all of the great reviews. Any suggestions?

Cinnamon Rolls II

Reviewed: May 21, 2007
So yummy! I was nervous to make cinnamon rolls because my mother-in-law is famous for hers and I thought there was no way to compare, but my husband loved them! I'm going to make a cream cheese icing next time and cut the recipe in half- we ended up with about 19 cinnamon rolls for the two of us and as much as I love sweets, that's too much!
