About this Cook
I've taken a few cooking courses throughout Europe over the last five years, and am currently a culinary management student. Generally, I come up with my own recipies based on what's in the cupboard, but they have to please a picky 16 year old and satisfy the dietary concerns of a mother who can't eat a number of foods.
My favorite things to cook
Asian fusion type food, desserts, pastas.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Christmas cookies with a group of people around the kitchen table, arguiung about stuffing for a turkey with family members.

Amazingly Good Eggnog
SO. Just finished making it- here's my twist. I used 2% milk and 10% cream. Instead of liquid vanilla I used 2 vanilla beans, instead of ground cinnamon I used 2 cinnamon sticks and instead of nutmeg I used freshly ground mace. No double boiler required- my eggs were tempered properly so there was no curdling. To be honest, the straining was kind of a wasted step, all that I ended up straining off were the bubbles! Delicious, smooth, awesome. It's been left liquor free at the moment as everyone in my family prefers something a little different, and everyone likes it at different strengths.

Sucre a la Creme
This stuff is delicious, and tastes almost exactly the way my grandmother's did. A couple notes though, the same rules that apply to making fudge apply to this. It won't work if it's too humid out, remember that it takes patience and lots of time stirring, and it's going to take the enamel off your teeth it's so sweet. Maple syrup works really well in this, take out some of the white sugar and remember that you're adding a liquid so it's going to take a little longer to cook and solidify.

Refreshing Summertime Salad
This was delicious! I added some orange juice to the vinaigrette to balance everything out. Really like it, and I'll definitely be making this again!
