Healing Cabbage Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2014
Great as is and also as a base for other soups. You can vary it a zillion ways. Try using dropping in some cooked frozen meatballs. Try using Mexican stewed tomatoes, a combo of beef and chicken broth and add some chicken, corn, green pepper, and diced green chilies; pour over tortilla chips & sprinkle with cheese. Try adding a tall jar of turkey gravy to change the consistency. Try adding a potato or two. Thanks for perking up my imagination.

The Best Meatloaf

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2013
I was leery when I saw the steak sauce as an ingredient as my husband doesn't like sauces or catsup, but I thought it might be disguised enough in this recipe. I'm SO glad I tried this. I ended up using 2 lbs. ground beef and kept the sauce amount approximately the same mixed with a TINY amount of catsup (1 Tbsp.). Gave a light flavor that was unidentifiable (good thing at my house) and was exceptionally tasty. I did not brush any sauce on top so it would not be prevalent. He loved it. I had to use a combination of Ritz crackers and bread crumbs because of what I had on hand and I cooked it in an 8x8 glass dish. For these reasons it required a longer cooking time. I will definitely make this again.

Boston Cooler

Forget the blender and serve with a straw and a spoon. Lucious stuff and SO refreshing. A cherry on top is gilding the lily, but kinda fun.

Bread and Celery Stuffing

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2012
I started making this a few years ago. Last year I was asked to bring it to a family dinner at an in-law's. It must have impressed folks because I was asked to bring "that yummy dressing" again this year. It's easy and can be used in or out of the bird. Just adjust to the moistness you prefer by increasing or reducing the broth and add an egg or two if you like. It's versatile. Go for it!

Alfredo Green Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2011
Since no one has tried this recipe I thought I'd add some info. This is so fast and versatile and tastes delicious. Everyone asks me to bring it and my daughter's friends are now enjoying it, too. Sure frees up the oven & can be made in a crockpot or even the microwave if you're in a hurry.
