About this Cook
I am changing the way I eat and live. I am on a mission to be a healthy woman and have a healthy family. My mother was recently diagnosed with type 2 diabitis and learning how to and preventing it in myself and family is my goal.
My favorite things to cook
Corned Beef and Cabbage. A nice easy meal that all my friends enjoy. Always a smile on everyones face.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Making pie crust cookies with my mother around the holidays and cooking Easter breakfast with my sister for my parents when we were children.
My cooking triumphs
My first Thanksgiving turkey turned out perfect. Thanks to some pre Turkey Day preperation and research on my part. Thanks Emril!
My cooking tragedies
My husband loves this green bean cassarole his mother makes at the holidays. One thanksgiving I forgot to precook all the ingrediants and had a very bitter half frozen cassarole.

Plum Bread
I had lots of leftover plums from a Bountiful Basket. So I peeled and pureed them. I only had fresh clove and nutmeg so I used less then called for so the flavors were not overwhelming. I also left out the food coloring and nuts. I don't have a bunt pan so I used a 9x12 pan and it only took 40 min to cook. Turned out great for my very first, from scratch, cake. I love the lemon icing. I shared it at my office and it went over very well also.

Ramen Cabbage Salad
A big hit at the office food fest. I added Broccoli slaw mix and mandarin oranges to it as well as using chopped almonds. Super Tasty.

Jerre's Black Bean and Pork Tenderloin Slow Cooker Chili
Amazing! I added an extra tsp of Chili powder for more kick, and some salt and pepper. My husband says this is a new staple.
