About this Cook
I am a mother of 3 boys (ages 4, 10, and 12 years.) I have been married 6 years, and love every minute of it. I stay very busy, between homeschooling the kids, being a taxi driver to different sports events for them, and getting food on the table, but always insist on having a home-cooked meal. I love cooking for my family, and getting their feedback as to how I can make it better next time. PLEASE NOTE: a good portion of my recipes in my recipe box are taken from Pampered Chef recipes and changed to my liking!
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook bread, candies, and I try to find new recipes for other things all the time.
My favorite family cooking traditions
To be honest, the majority of my family can't cook worth a lick. It's amazing my siblings and I have such a knack for it. The only traditions we carry are during the holidays, really.
My cooking triumphs
Mastering the whole bread baking technique was quite a triumph, I couldnt figure out for the longest time why my bread was turning out dense and the crust was sooooooo hard and thick. After much research, I get soft, fluffly loaves, every time.
My cooking tragedies
I've never really had a cooking tragedy yet. Just learning experiences.

Beer Butt Chicken
Oh MY GOSH! This was phenomenal! I used boneless skinless chicken breast since we dont ever buy whole chickens. And ended up doing the recipe as follows: 1 c butter 2 Tbsp garlic powder 2 Tbsp paprika 1 - 12 oz can of beer (used the whole thing) 1.5 lbs boneless skinless chicken breast 1.5 tsp italian seasoning .5 tsp onion powder I melted the butter and added all the seasonings and beer to make it into a marinade and then marinated the chicken in the fridge for about 2 1/2 hrs. Took it out and grilled in on medium- high heat. IT WAS SOOOO moist! I kept checking it, and when it was all white i took a bite and almost thought it was not cooked all the way! NOPE! It was COMPLETELY done. I have NEVER had chicken breast so juicy in my LIFE. Just WOW. I know that i havent necessarily a true 5-star based on the recipe as written, but what i did was AMAZING. the only part i will probably do differently next time is use 1.5T garlic salt as it was a little on the salty side. I boiled the marinade while the chicken was cooking and then strained out the solid parts and had an amazing sauce to drizzle on the chicken and polenta. not that it was needed though!

Boilermaker Tailgate Chili
This is a really good recipe. Not mind-blowing but definitely a keeper! We are trying to cut animal products back because they cost so dang much, so I replaced all of the meat called for with a lb of diced mushrooms. They simmer down and give a nice meaty texture without the fat and cost!I made a few other changes as well to meet our liking, but it was great! Served it with some tortilla chips only. Thanks for the recipe!

Italian Dressing Mix
I have never liked any type of vinaigrette-style dressings. However, I decided to give this one a try based on the rave reviews. I halved the mix recipe and just made a double batch of the actual dressing. I omitted the celery salt since I didn't have any and halved the salt (used himalayan) as others suggested. Also used balsamic vinegar and EVOO. Mixed it up real quick in my vitamix (i hate 'big' pieces of dried spices). oh, i actually used local honey as well instead of sugar. it was pretty good! haven't used in on the salad yet, as I literally just finished making it at 10 PM, but I look forward to giving this a try! I can imagine it would make a pretty good marinade too! :)
