I feel very strongly that God has blessed me with my family and given me the charge of taking care of their health and well-being. A huge part of that is in how I feed them!
My favorite things to cook
I LOVE to bake but sugar is my weakness, so I'm trying to bake less and reduce the sugars in most recipes. I use mostly organic foods and take pride in feeding my family and friends healthier, all-natural versions of our favorite foods.
My favorite family cooking traditions
The art of cooking was never a big part of my family growing up, simply a means to an end. It's only been in the past few years that I've taken an interest in creating tastier and healthier foods. One of my favorite "traditions" is living off the land, so to speak. My husband and boys hunt which provides our meat and I'm slowly learning to garden. I've always had a black thumb so I'm still a novice gardener! But I avoid artificial ingredients and chemicals in all our foods, and growing it yourself is a great way to do that!
My cooking triumphs
My kids love certain meals I create and there is no greater confidence booster than hearing them tell their friends how DELICIOUS my food is. My "cheesy chicken & stuffing" always disappears as soon as it hits the table...
My cooking tragedies
Tragedies? So many I can't remember! Although my one attempt at a microwave potato soup recipe ended in potatoes and milk all over the microwave, counter and floor and my favorite bowl split in half! I don't use a microwave anymore...
