Easy Slow Cooker Sweet and Sour Pork Chops

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2012
Cut the brown sugar in half, added 1/2 tsp prepared mustard and 1 extra T. onion. Next time I want to thicken the sauce and add green pepper and pineapple. As to cooking time I put 4 boneless chops in the crockpot at 11:00 a.m. and they were completely done and tender at 1:00.

Sausage Egg Squares

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2012
Followed the recipe exact except used real eggs instead of egg beaters. I didn't care for the texture or the taste. I used reduced fat bisquick which I think gave it a very sour taste, also I didn't use small curd cottage cheese so you could see big chunks of cottage cheese which looked very bad.

Grandma's Chicken Chardon

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2012
Love this recipe. I always double or triple the mushrooms, add about 2 cloves of fresh pressed garlic to the mushrooms and sometimes add a T. of dijon mustard. I use garlic and herb seasoned breadcrumbs that I mix with a little olive oil. I cover the chicken with foil for half the baking time. This turns out so moist and delicious everytime.

Pear and Almond French Toast Casserole

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2012
I used canned pears and found them to taste terrible in this recipe. Pears just dont go with almond extract. I also thought that there should be more sugar added - it tasted about as sweet as a popover. I doubled the almond extract which I thought was perfect. I will try making this with fresh peaches, more brown sugar on the bottom and a little more white sugar in the egg mixture.

Asian Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2012
Cut the veg. oil in half. Used white sugar instead of brown and used 1 T. of sugar instead of 2. I've noticed some sesame oils are 100 percent and some are a blend of sesame and vegetable oil. Tasted totally different when I used full strength sesame oil.

Chicken Wild Rice Soup I

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2012
This is great - been making it for years. I use half the butter and it works fine. I also add a lot more curry and sherry and use a mixture of half and half and milk. Really good!

Chicken Tortilla Soup V

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2012
This is great soup. I've made this several times. Sometimes I use ground turkey instead of chicken. I always omit the lemon juice, add a can of black beans, and add a lot of cumin and more garlic. The last time I made it I added ripped up corn tortillas and it was fantastic. They completely dissolved but added great flavor and texture.

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2012
This was great! I however made the soup by sauteing the onion, celery and some carrot in the butter then sprinkled the flour on top and cooked it until it turned brown. I then deglazed the pan with chicken broth (instead of using water with boullion). I then added the potatoes and ham and simmered. To boost the flavor I added a tsp of chicken bouillon, some old bay seasoning, a couple of pinches of curry powder and two bay leaves. When the soup was done simmering I finished it with a little whole milk.

Fig and Olive Tapenade

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2012
This was fantastic. I've made it many times and everyone really likes it. I put the olives and figs in the food processor to rough chop them and use fresh herbs. Not as much as the recipe calls for however. Also I only use 1 clove of garlic. I serve over goat cheese.

Sausage Pasta

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2012
This took a lot of tweaking to give it enough flavor. I added more garlic, some sliced red pepper, a few mushrooms, some kalamata olives and quite a bit of ceyanne pepper. Next time I won't add entire can of broth it was too much.

Alyson's Broccoli Salad

This was good. I used less bacon and half the sugar. It was still really sweet. Next time I'll cut back more on the sugar and raisins.

Great! Only changes I made were to add 3 T. of worcheshire sauce to the ground beef and I didn't mash the carrots just par cooked them in the microwave and added them to the meat along with a 1/2 cup of frozen peas.

Too Much Chocolate Cake

Made great cupcakes! Used small box pudding, coffee for water and added 1/2 tsp. almond extract which was very subtle. Frosted with butter cream frosting. Couldn't be better!

Spanakopita (Greek Spinach Pie)

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2010
This was great. Made a few revisions - added another clove of garlic, ommitted the parsley but added some mushrooms and about a fourth of a red peppper. I also added a tablespoon of asiago cheese and a pinch of basil and nutmeg. Also it needed a lot of seasoning with salt and pepper. I did use quite a few layers of phyllo dough on the bottom and then on the top but it really didn't seem necessary as the flavor was so good by itself. I think I will try putting this filling in little prepared phyllo cups and serve as appetizers.
