Cream Puffs

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2009
"Mmmmm... These are awesome Mommy, so awesome! Maybe you should make these for Christmas!" - Arianna, 6 Made half recipe since I only had one pudding, but I ended up having lots of filling leftover. I did poke hole immediately after baking and filled right away. So good with banana cream pudding and melted chocolate drizzled on top!

Swiss Chicken Casserole II

Simple and good! I dumped in a can of green beans before cooking (it's the only green veggie the picky ones eat).

Fresh Southern Peach Cobbler

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2009
It was very good. I didn't measure my spices, I just sprinkled them in the peaches and the cobbler. I added a tsp or two of extra cornstarch, but I probably didn't need to-I only had six peaches to use. I like mine a bit juicier. I gave this five stars, although it didn't come close to my mom's, but nothing can! I like the cake/soft cookie like texture of the cobbler. That's what I think cobbler should be, not crumb. The peach peeling trick in one of the comments was really great!

Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff I

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2009
This was pretty good. Although, I found it to be a bit bland and too creamy tasting. I tried to sub the water with beef broth and used spices and garlic, but still just not what I was looking for. Lacking the tang.

Jay's Signature Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2009
This is my favorite pizza dough recipe. I've made it so many times just as the recipe says. I do bloom my yeast first (habit since I had a bad pack of yeast once and had brick bread. I've made this so many times I only measure out the water, everything else I just add until it looks good. Great crust!

Easy Pizza Sauce III

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2009
Oh my so good!!! I did add a pinch of sugar as some others did. My picky daughter wanted to lick the mixing bowl clean! The greatest sauce ever. Generously sauced one large pizza (Jay's signature crust) with a couple cups left over to freeze.

Authentic Mexican Tortillas

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2009
These were yummy, a bit salty though. I made just as directed. I did not find these to be tough, but a bit flakey. I could not lift these with out it flaking. I tried thick and thin. It seemed the thinner the better. I think these will be great with a bit less salt. I'm sensitive to salt though.

Strawberry Pretzel Salad

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2009
Oh thank you for this recipe! Growing up, my friend's mom made this for dessert. She always served dessert after every dinner! My friend and her little sister hated it, but I loved it sooo much! I would get my friend's helping.

French Breakfast Muffins

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2009
Simple and delish. Good for a morning treat. I made these one time and snuck in some goodness by soaking some bran cereal in the milk before adding. Still turned out delish and didn't make you feel as guilty for indulging. I also reduced the butter in the muffins to just a pat melted and added a spoon of applesauce. I don't melt butter to dip when finished I just touch the hot tops with a stick of butter and use a small spoon to sprinkle cinnamon sugar on top.

Sweet Corn Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2009
Very yummy, made just as it said. Delish! Don't confuse masa harina (which is a corn flour) with harina de maise ( a course cornmeal.) masa harina is sold in the paper bags just like all purpose flour. It is corn flour specially prepared with lime. Also called instant masa mix.

Taco Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2009
Very yummy! Great for picky eaters, you can top with what you like, just like a regular taco. Baked the crescent rolls different (package said 375). Used ground turkey instead of beef (we do that with most our dishes). Delish, will make again.

Cantaloupe Bread with Praline Glaze

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2009
Wow! Delish! I subed half the oil for an extra half cup of cantaloupe puree because one whole cup kinda sounded gross to me, the sub worked great! I only had one bread pan so the other half of the batter filled 12 muffin cups and the muffins cooked in 30 min. This is a perfect recipee b/c my super-picky family doesn't eat cantaloupe and I love it, so the way I make it uses up about 3/4 of a small cantaloupe which leaves me with a couple fresh slices! Yum!

Easy Beef Stroganoff

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2009
Yum! I used only 1 lb of ground beef, half an onion and one can of campbel's beef broth, no water. It turned out great, I kept most of the onion mushroom mixture on the side since the rest of my family isn't too crazy about them. I just added a spoonful on top of my plate. Oh and I used minced garlic in with the meat cooking and the veggie cooking. Love it, putting it on my perma-list for dinners!

So great! I use this to make the gravy. If I'm making it for breakfast, I use bisquick drop biscuits instead of scratch. The gravy those is wonderful!

Restaurant-Style Zuppa Toscana

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2009
Love it so simple and yummy!! Hubby loves it, even the kale! (He's an anti-veggie eater.) I use mild italian sausage links and split them open, cook and crumble in the pan. I use black pepper in this soup too. Instead of water and soup base I use 2c. water and 2c. prepared chicken broth. I end up adding additional kale. Sooo delish!!!

Chicken Pot Pie I

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2009
Oh soooooo delish! Hubby is just as picky as our 5 yo when it comes to eating veggies. They both loved it! Our daughter didn't even mention the fact it had veggies in it (normally when eating them she'll make herself sick). Will make this over and over again! I used chicken tenders and boiled them. Of course I added some basic spices, including garlic. I only used one can of soup and it was very moist and saucey, but I did mix it with some milk before topping and stirring. I half baked the bottom crust first. Used frozen mixed veggies and some leftovers I had (corn, potatoes o'brien, peas.) Definately becoming permanent on our dinner list!
