Cream Cheese Frosting II

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2010
I tasted the frosting after I blended the first three ingredients together and thought it was perfect. Then I added the vanilla and ick didn't like it! I didn't put more than the recipe called for and am surprised so many reviewers liked more. For me it gave it an overwhelming vanilla taste that killed the cream cheese flavor. Definitely will make again less the vanilla.

Caldo Verde (Portuguese Green Soup)

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2010
This tasted very close to my favorite Portuguese restaurants Caldo Verde. I didn't want to use just water so I used half water and half beef broth (all I had on hand.) Flavor was very good as I'm sure it would be using chicken too. My store didn't have chorizo so I used linguica also. A tip on cutting the kale: cut it from its stem, then roll it up and cut it finely. A great soup served with your favorite bread!

Italian Love Cake

Reviewed: May 28, 2009
Yum, this was very good! I used DH Devils Food mix and made sure to buy a good quality ricotta, opting for regular and not part skim. This had a nice rich flavor and I'll use definitely make this again.

Crispy Orange Beef

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2009
Great recipe! I only used OJ in lieu of the concentrate and mixed a bit of flour in with the cornstarch. It has a nice authentic flavor and I'll make it again and probably try others suggestions of flour only instead of cornstarch.

Blackberry Cobbler II

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2009
A very easy and delicious recipe for cobbler. The only thing I did differently was, as many have reviewed, to use less sugar. It was the first time I've ever tried making cobbler and I was surprised how easy it was with this great recipe. I've made it twice already with the blackberries and have even tried using fresh peaches and loved it. Highly recommended!

Halibut with Cream Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2009
This is great find for me since I've been looking for new ways to prepare my favorite fish! I didn't grill but baked it in the oven still wrapped in the foil. I cooked it at 350 for about 25 mins then I opened the foil and broiled it for about 2.5 minutes until it browned. I also added garlic powder and lemon to the fish before adding a light layer of seasoned bread crumbs, followed by the parmesan cheese, and finally a light layer of panko (japanese bread crumbs), which gave it some extra crunch. A very tasty dish that I will make again.

Rib Eye Steaks with a Soy and Ginger Marinade

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2008
This makes a great tasting ribeye, although I did do a little substituting. As per another reviewer who didn't have beer on hand and I never do.. I used some olive oil instead. Also didn't have maple syrup but used some molasses. I also used this on thin cut ribeyes so the marinating time is much less and there is still a great flavor.

Pig Burger

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2008
This was delicious, messy, but very delicious! I made my own guacamole and herb mayo (lite mayo w/ some oregano, basil, and a bit of dill.) I cut the bacon in half for small slices instead of crumbled and also used big onion poppyseed rolls. If you don't mind making a bit of mess while eating, the combination of flavors here is very good!

Stir-Fried Chicken and Rice Noodles

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2008
All of the ingredients sounded like they would make a nice meal so I gave this a shot but it just really lacked the flavor I had hoped. I followed it completely and even let the meat marinate 3X as long as the recipe stated.

Peanut Butter Pie XIX

Delicious and easy. I used a graham cracker crust and didn't use as much whipped topping as suggested, also chopped reese's peanut butter cups and put on the top. Great for peanut butter lovers!

Beef Stroganoff III

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2008
I'm throwing out my old recipe and using this one now! I did as others have suggested and marinated my beef in wine only and not added some later. Also, used a yellow onion and fresh mushrooms. Very tasty stroganoff!

Award Winning Peaches and Cream Pie

Very tasty and really easy to make. I followed the recipe exactly except for the 10" pan, I only had a 9.5 and it was just fine for me. I can't wait to make this one for more of my family & friends!

Baked Basil Fries

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2008
These taste great and are so easy to prepare. I added more seasonings like some pepper and onion powder to the mix because I wanted to make sure they had alot of flavor and I also just cubed some potatoes instead of doing fries. I'll definitely be making these again.

Simple BBQ Ribs

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2008
The only reason I give this 4 instead of 5 stars is I took all the additional advice of the 1st reviewer (Boonie12). What a simple way to prepare ribs that by far turn out way better than I have ever made them! Very flavorful and extremely tender.

Easy Caramelized Onion Pork Chops

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2008
I added extra seasonings because I was worried this could be too bland. I seasoned the chops with salt, pepper, poultry and italian seasonings. It gave it a really nice flavor. My problem was with the water used. After reading others reviews stating that 1 cup of water was too much, I used at least half less. I'll try this again in the future and see how it works with even less water.

Coconut Tofu Keema

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2008
This recipe has excellent flavor and was delicious! I took the advice of other reviewers and cut down by at least half on the tomato and just a little bit of the coconut milk. I added extra curry and also, didn't have the red pepper paste so I substituted with some red curry powder which gave it a nice spicey flavor. I'll definitely be making this one again!

Sage Pork Chops

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2008
I was surprised how well these came out and my husband really liked them. It couldn't be easier to make, but I did make changes as others had suggested before. I used a poultry seasoning that had sage in it plus several other seasonings, and also added garlic powder. Once I cooked them in the butter I added about 1/2 cup of sliced onions and cooked them about 40 mins. I think the added seasonings and onion can really make a difference.
